I am worried about the security on Woo Commerce. You must keep up to date with the security patches if you use one of the big companies, which is tricky if you have bespoke features.

We use Cubecart, which is very flexible for our needs and is unlikely to get too much attention by hackers, but we only use that as a framework. The backend we use despatch.cloud for all the order processing etc.

I use Shopify and Shopify payments. I'm mostly impressed with the platform and the App marketplace. The only thing I'm not happy with is Shopify payments. I don't see revenue from my orders for about 7 days. They don't mention this anywhere which is my biggest point of contention with it.

I have avoided Woo Commerce and Magento due to them being complicated. we'd end up having to pay people every time we wanted to make small changes. I have used Weebly, Big Commerce and now Shopify. I'd put them in the drag and drop prosumer type category, even though some biggish retailers do use Big Commerce and Shopfy at least. I think Shopify is the best of these 3.

I think that's a reasonable concern, we are often approached by people who've had their WordPress sites hacked and ask us to fix it all for them.

It depends on the requirements but generally it will be between Ruby on Rails based shop using a ruby gem (Fun fact: Shopify is built with Ruby on Rails) and WordPress (woocommerce) or Magento.

It all depends though on the requirements, planning ahead and is it scalable? If not, what problems might I face? Are the problems big enough to outweigh using this one?
