Website needs building

I need a website on a small budget of below £700. Not sure if I should do one myself and learn from scratch which will cost both time and money or go to a professional. And I dont like getting ripped off so i need reccommendations.

Wordpress templates are worth a look as suggested, but as someone else said it really depends on what you require. E-Commerce site would need professional input whereas a simple website could be done by oneself.

Also remember that design needs to go hand in hand swith SEO and marketing, or there is no point bunging £700 at something nobody visits.

If you want it to look professional then you should go to a professional. They will understand design, the technology and know what works and doesn't work on a website.

You mentioned you didn't want to get ripped off. This forum is full of web designers so if you put your requirements on here (the more detailed the better) you can gather quotes, see what the different prices are and determine who you like (in terms of website portfolio and personality).
