Web3 tld domain name - any benefit for SEO/Branding?

I've found a name that I want to register via https://freename.io/ but everything I'm reading seems to indicate it's all to do with blockchain (which I know very little about).

I just need to know if I buy/register new.name as an example, can I use that as my main domain for a website (no interest in using it to mine or any ******/mining related stuff at all), but the name I've found works well for some new site I was looking to launch which would otherwise be new-name.co.uk

.io is often associated with the tech industry. It’s actually the TLD for the British Indian Ocean Territory.

Technically you can - if you have a domain registered you can use it for what you want, but whether it's a good idea as @fisicx points out is another matter. There might be an exception if it will be technical sort of site or a clever name like stud.io

it's not a .io domain, but https://freename.io/ are allowing me to register a domain that is the perfect combination of two words for this business.

so for example, instead of one-two.co.uk I could register one.two

Not using a standard TLD means people will get it wrong when searching.

Maybe SEO was the wrong word.

But say I was doing PPC, or giving someone the domain name, isn't it easier/catchier to have one.two instead of one-two.co.uk?

I've got the one-two.co.uk already, but onetwo.co.uk was taken, which is why I'm thinking one.two might be the perfect alternative.

People searching Google will find onetwo.co.uk not one.two

You need to research a different keyword.

The actual domain name doesn’t matter. The more generic the better. Don’t overthink it, just choose something memorable rather than specific.
