Hi all

My web host, csnewmedia, has disappeared off the face of the earth.

Their website has expired and they're unreachable.

Can anyone advise me on how to resolve this / transfer hosting?

I run an online business and can no longer access or update my website.

Have you a backup of the site?

If not you are pretty much stuffed. Unless you can access the server your site is gone forever (or until someone buys the business and relaunches).

Seems like they have been going downhill for months.

You don't need to transfer anything, you just install your backup on your new hosting and point the nameservers for your domain at your domain registrar to the new server hosting your backed up website.

And it appears their primary DNS server has fallen over which may be why you can't access your website.

Meaning they're probably using Fasthosts to host part of their website seeing as they have major DNS lookup issues today affecting thousands of their customers.

If you have a backup of your hosted website you should be fine transferring it. We can also access their website as reported above.

Upload the backup and change your name servers to match your new hosting.

Hi Liam. I'm sorry to hear the trouble you've had with your previous host.

If you used cPanel then we're able to automatically migrate your entire account from the backup, so that you can keep all emails, files and configuration.

Otherwise we and any decent host will do this manually for you.

As mentioned it's then just a case of updating your nameserver entries for your domain to that of your new host.

If you had your domain registered with your previous host then you may want to transfer this over as well. Some hosts such as us provide a free domain for life, so if you transfer your domain we'll then be able to keep it renewed for you.

If you don't have access to your domain name then contact Noninet to perform a transfer of ownership

If you still manage to get access make a backup of all the files and database. As for the transfer, if you find a new hosting you can contact their support and they usually do the transfer for you, that's how I do it.

Hi Liam,

Have you backup your files and database? Where did you register your domain name? If you have your backup files and database, then you'll be able to arrange the migration. Just register with new hosting provider and then upload all your files and database.

For domain, please just point it to new name server.

Fisixc has already pointed out that Liam said he has a backup. Perhaps you should actually read the posts. Nobody has added any value to this topic for some time.
