Hi,

thank you to anyone taking the time to reply to me.
I want to redirect my life and start an import business, and by saying this I mean I would like to import food( milk derivate, honey, olive oil delicatessens) from a European country and from a Balcanic one, and be able to resale it to other businesses- therefore a B2B.
I am trying to learn as much as I can from the internet and learning.
Is there anyone who has started a similar business? Can someone explain the process I would have to go through?
I understand what Customs declaration means, however, I do not understand the part when a doctor has to make an inspection to the food.
There are few keypoint that are not very clear- so if there's anyone who can address me or guide me in any way- I'd appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Before investigating the import process, look at the products and market.
  • How much is the product to buy?
  • What are the import/logistics costs?
  • Who will be your client?
  • What will they sell for?
  • What will they want to buy it for?
  • How many will they want to buy?
  • What are the costs in the UK - marketing, shipping, labelling, approvals etc?
You can then start looking at the commercial viability.

Are you looking to resell within the EU or rather in the UK. There are a few things you should look out for when importing plant and animal products post-Brexit. There is still grace period on such products but when this expires importing will subject to even more non-tariff barriers.
