Vonage - Call Lagging?

Hi,

Just a quick question, I'm currently using Skype for business.

However the call diverting is terrible, when I'm out of the office and divert calls to my mobile the caller gets a ringing tone and then about 15 seconds my mobile will start ringing, needless to say the caller by then has hung up - potential customer lost! :(

So I'm considering moving to Vonage - can anyone on help tell me what their call diverting is like - hopefully no lagging time like Skype?

Also anyother comments by current Vonage users would be appreciated.

Finally, I need a dual headsets as the router I need to plug the primary handset is downstairs and the office upstairs. What kind of phones can I use? Is there specific Vonage only phones or can I go into Argos and just buy a dual handset and should be ok?

Thanks,

D

You'll see that Vonage is US based with quite a lot of hops - each connection nips over to the States and back again. (They have firewalled their servers so you can't see the full route anymore but you get the point?)

You are better off using a UK provider :)

We also disable ping and are firewalled but if you could ping us, you'd probably see on a handful of hops and a roundtrip delay of about 30ms.

    Hi Dazfre

Thanks for mentioning Vonage! Sorry for the late reply.

Our current service, upon registration, allows the subscriber to set the lag time for the diverted call to reach the mobile handset. The lag times range from 1 second (Instant) to 15 seconds (Something I don’t think you are looking for!) and can be set up easily.

As for your second query regarding handset compatibility, although Vonage do offer a variety of headset options via the website, you can use any handset that requires a landline connection so you will be able to continue using dual headsets in the future.

If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to give me a shout and I’ll help you out or you can find us on Twitter and Facebook (Search for VonageUK) for additional info and advice. I hope you found this useful.
