Voip

I took out a VOIP package with Natterbox through a reseller of theirs. The reseller was a complete waste of time and I had a falling out. However, he has now asked Natterbox to terminate my accouint as he no longer wants to service it.
Natterbox are sticking with him on this, and now my business line is no longer working.
So my web site /stationary etc.. has a number that is no longer in use. Are there any good VOIP suppliers out there? It was a good package- unlimited calls to landline and mobiles for £30 month.

Stay clear of Natterbox at all costs!

If you'd like to PM me your number, I'll check to see if it can be transferred (ported) - you may be lucky.

Stay clear of Natterbox at all costs!

Stay clear of re-sellers full stop.

    What difference would that make?

ITSPA members agree a code of practice that allows the porting of numbers between themselves on customer request and if a member goes bust.

It also has a Quality Mark - members that qualify must do things like conform to all UK regulations, all of ITSPA codes (security, customer complaints handling etc) and basically be decent fellows. They also have to pay to be members so you know you're not dealing with a guy in a garage with an Asterisk box.

Are there any more VOIP providers around?
Had a word with Voipfone but unfortunately, their tarriff would be too high for me. I ring 0845 numbers a lot and I am usually on the phone to them for about 4/5 hours per day.
We also have to call a lot of mobile numbers.
So anyone with a good package out there, please let me know

There's stacks of VoIP providers around - mostly resellers - but none that will give you unlimited calls to mobiles for a fixed price. (Well none that will stay in business long if they do.)

Voipfone pricing to some prefixes such as 0845 and mobile may seem quite high but the quality of service is very good and justifies the price IMO.

We make 800+ calls just to 0845 and 0870 numbers through our Voipfone account every week and the total cost is still very low. We have tried using cheaper providers and the drop in call quality does not justify the savings.

You really need to think carefully about how important these calls are to your business, otherwise you are just going to end up with yet another 3rd rate VOIP provider who will likely be another reseller.

I would recommend Voipfone, they are very good - at least for now.

If they launch that horrible beta control panel they have been previewing to customers I may have to reconsider. It is without a doubt the ugliest and least user friendly UI I have ever seen. I hope it get's a nice makeover before launch :)

Hope you find a provider you are happy with.

In terms of outbound calls, you're going to be better off going to BT - as much as I hate to say it. Some of their packages include free minutes to 0845 numbers, so if this is a big factor for you, then ultimately, BT will end up the cheapest.

    Also, regarding Soho66: http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=153503&page=3#edit1353903

Believe either side as you wish, but the fact they are talking about another customer in a public forum turns me off them whether the accusations are true or not!

Defending your business is different from openly discussing (albeit slightly censored) your relationship and circumstance with your customer. If I were your customer I wouldn't want you talking about me on a public forum whether you were saying good things or bad things. I might not have a right to that, but I have an opinion on that.

Like I say, just puts me off...

We love Voipfone, haven't had any issues with them since we started and the calls are crystal clear.

I am not about to get into bashing other providers, but lets just say we had a less than satisfactory result from one in the past.

They might not be the cheapest, they are far from expensive, but you get what you pay for.

    Hi ThinkSipp

I see from your post that you phone a lot of mobiles + 0845.

Hence the below may be of interest:

I can provide you with a GSM Deskphone solution via Vodafone as follows:
    £42.50 + VAT gives you:
Unlimited UK Mobile (prefix 07 not 070 or 076)
    Unlimited UK Landline (prefix 01,02,03,0800,0845,0870)
    Unlimited UK Texts
Up to five geographic numbers (any area in the UK) to map onto the mobile number in the GSM Deskphone.

(If you have bad reception on Vodafone or zero reception eg in a basement , I can include a Sure Signal in the deal so your Vodafone calls route via your Broadband)

If you're interested however, this unlimited offer is just about to end (probably only a couple of days left to apply) and be replaced by one not nearly as good as the above.

If you'd like to discuss further, my email address is my full name with no dot at my business name dot com.

If the above is not of interest and your solution has to be VoIP based, I can highly recommend Gradwell (I am not a dealer for Gradwell but I have been a satisfied customer of theirs for many years now).

    Best Regards
