Hi Guys

I'm looking for some help in working out how best to set up my phone for my e-com website. Essentially, I just want to be able to publish a number, the customer calls my iPhone. But if I need to call them back, it's either part of the new business package or maybe I switch to using my iPhone unlimited calls.

1) I want to have a geographic number
2) I'd like to be able to use my iPhone to receive the calls. For outbound calls, I was hoping to either the VoIP number or maybe my unlimited mobile package with 141 in front?
3) I won't have access to a traditional landline.

I was thinking about Yay.com, virtuallandline.co.uk, 8x8.com and bonline, but I don't want loads of costs as it's literally just me in the business for now and for a long time. I don't need video calls.

Is anyone out there running such a set-up?

Thanks in advance.

Been using voipfone for almost a decade.
They've a discount or free trial for members here too.
You can get a geographic number & you can set it up on your iphone or use their softphone app

Yep, there is member @cjd here from voipfone and a number of people here use them.

As we at BDG are embedded into Microsoft365, and offering an alternative to consider, as a business we do use Team Voice. So our calls are made and received through Teams. May be overkill for your circumstances.

So, it's around £3/m to rent the number (some places include 1 number), then a few outbound mins included then, 1p-10p/m depending on whether to mobiles etc.
So, I'd be better offer to make OB calls via my current mobile pack, which is unlimited (fair usage)

If the decision is financial then yes you're right, it would make sense to stick with your mobile. I'd say it kicks in more of an issue when you take on your first member of staff, such as needing to transfer a call.
You can get landline numbers that can be redirected to a mobile number, if you want to stick with your mobile calls but have a landline number.

Thanks. I don't imagine having staff for a long time and then if and when I do, I should be able to afford a few quid for a phone! So, I'm really looking for a virtual landline which forwards to my mobile then?

Sounds like you're better off with the £5pm plan - includes a number and 100 minutes to UK landlines and mobiles.

We use Zoom phone and that works well too. We are a couple of partners working from different locations so can log in on mobile apps or on the pc to receive and make calls. Zoom lets you setup the call centre with opening times and messages etc., works great for us.
