Virtual Office

Hi guys,

My wife and I are in the process of setting up our own business and I would like a virtual office (for mailing purposes only at this stage). What is the most cost effective way to go about this - a quick Google search throws up thousands of results but I would be keen to hear of any personal recommendations.

I'm in this business and I would say that almost all virtual offices are priced the same (around £60-£80 per month upwards depending on the level of service you require).

I am reluctant to say much more as it would not be 'cricket' to secure business over this forum.

For mailing alone I believe I have seen prices that are cheaper than this.

The best way is to search "virtual offices desired location" or something of the sort.

In terms of mailing alone its difficult to see how they could get the service wrong, normally you can either pick up or get it forwarded.

Be aware that Google local now seems set on removing listings who's address is a virtual office.

Just a thought, but have you looked at VAs in your area? A lot do provide mail forwarding etc. May work out a bit cheaper than paying for a virtual office (plus, they can help in other areas if required!)

Anyway - back to the qustion. Best value and most reliable mail forwarding see the BusinessMadeSimpleGroup. Cost just £30 quid a month and you also get a prime business address in Central London.

It is also easy to add features like telephone answering whn you need them. The web site has a lot of useful info too and pricing on all services is completely transparent.

When you need more than just mailing services, i.e. telephone answering, I would recommend us www.heartcommunications.co.uk

The mail forwarding services are £15 per month, you sign up for three months in advance plus a £20 postage deposit. We then knock the cost of postage off of this deposit.

Its a good thing that you are considering a Virtual office because so many small start up businesses overlook such services.

The risks of business failure are dramatically reduced. You can have an office address, a telephone number and a Receptionist from a few pounds per month.

The problem you have is which one do you chose? It's a minefield.

There are hundreds of providers and pricing is not transparent.

If you are considering Telephone Answering then there are more variables to consider;

E.g.

1. What hours to they operate?
2. How many operators do they have?

If I was employing someone to answer my calls I would want top quality because you need to create the best first impression possible for your business.

I work within the industry so I would be asking how many calls each operator is expected to take per hour. Many call centre operations are looking for their staff to take about 25-30 calls per hour and keep callers in queues.

This for me is critical. I would want the person answering my calls to sound professional, friendly and relaxed and not hurried. They also need to capture the relevant information from your callers...

There is no easy way to find the right company. A local company would be an advantage because you could make a visit and also use meeting rooms etc..
