Virtual number redirection to mobile

Hi all,

I'm looking to set up an accountancy firm and need a virtual number. I'd be interested in hearing from either suppliers or other businesses that have a similar set up to my needs:

• I need a local landline
• I need it to redirect to my mobile
• I need to be able to forward on to a call answering service when necessary
• I need a decent switchboard/answerphone particularly with some sort of whisper/call notification
• I'd quite like answerphone message to be emailed to me
• I'd like the flexibility to port the number in the future if required
• It should be able to grow with my business needs
• I'd like to be able to make outbound calls as well
• Obviously I'd want to pay as little as possible

I've looked at Switchboardfree which is good but costs quite a lot to redirect to mobiles and doesn't have outbound calls.
I'd be interested to know whether there is a VOIP option with basically free calls through my PC.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I looked into a virtual number a while back, and ended up sticking with a mobile number.

The problem with a lot of virtual numbers is that there's often a few seconds of lag between when the call seems to have been picked up and when you actually start speaking to the person on the other end. I don't know why that is -- perhaps because they're keeping a record of each call that goes through on the number or something -- but in my experience it can sound very disjointed, and I feel that it undermines the prospective client's perception of you as a business.

Why not just get a standard landline and answering service?

CircleLoop provide for all of that, whilst allowing you to be flexible after getting you set up with it all.

No contract ties, also, as it's on a month by month basis. Sounds tailor-suited for what you're looking to get out of a provider.

I have used a virtual landline from cjd (above) at Voipfone for 5 years now, value for money and works well for me being a mobile business, also i use a company “no missed call” for takng calls when i am not able, they send me an email with a message and all the details. Again cheap receptionist at £1.00 per call
