    hey,

I'm looking for a vector image to use in a logo.

Can anyone recoomend any websites from experience? I know there are free resources but a lot are free for non-commercial only.

In the past I have used fiverr which people will create logos for £20-£30 but looking at the license fees for some of these vector/stock image websites they can't be used fully licenses images (being used on fiverr) ?

    Thanks

    Try PPH.

You might have to pay a bit more for a good one.

I got some free credit from PPH and got the caricature I use as my image here and a logo done with that. The logo was a disappointment - very formulaic, and the first attempt was an unimaginative adaptation of a free image.

You might be lucky and find something free you can use: https://freesvg.org/ or cheap stock images.

In which case, you probably won't get a freebie. Pay for an image, they aren't expensive and you can claim as a business expense.

Can't really do that with a logo? Currently only selling on Amazon so I can't even add the creator to the credit section of a website

Not all require it but, it limits the choice. The second of @fisicx's links and my link above do not.

If you see something you like that does require a credit the copyright holder may waive that for a fee. They might also be a good person do do a logo for you as you know they have done work you like.

Why don't you just pay a decent designer to create proper artwork who will have the right licences, rather than using dodgy people on fiver who are unlikely to be qualified graphic designers/have the correct licenses. Why risk being sued ?

My partner knows someone local who is a graphic designer. If I get a propper invoice will this give me some kind of protection?

A big advantage of someone local (at least in the same country) is that its a lot easier to sue them if they land you with a breach of copyright.

That said, especially for a logo, the risk is minimal. I have never heard of anyone having a copyright issue using cheap designers or free graphics. Mostly people have issues because a web designer used something unlicensed (usually photos rather than graphics).

Yes, if they include the image license with the invoice.
