Hello
I have a 3 character domain which I have held for 15 years, its not doing anything and I want to try and monetise this. I have thought of various offerings which are service based as I do not want to get involved in dealing with selling goods on the internet. I have thought of setting up a while label cloud solutions for visitors which will provide hosting, cloud based storage, webmail etc..

does anyone have any suggestions on where I would find something like this, maybe a white label solutions. The domain would lend itself to technology led solutions its very much like uk2.net.

I hope readers can point me in the right direction.

What makes this three letter domain so valuable?

Whilst it may be memorable most people don't really care. They click on links not domain names.

As you've found out, a domain name is useless, it's what's on it that people visit the site for. All (un)registered domains are as (un)valuable as each other. Just because it's three letters doesn't automatically mean it will be profitable.

Why not auction it off

I would have thought it might be worth talking to a hosting provider who offers white label. Some will even install all the customer login areas for you and basically set you up as a hosting company that uses their services.

Based on what I can gather from your post, you don't want to have anything which is too involved? Please tell me if I wrong. Also I am assuming your domain is related to online services, such as hosting/etc. Factoring in these assumptions I would recommend you offer completely white label web hosting service, however it will be best to get a hosting provider who offers white labelled support too. This will greatly decrease any involvement needed. I have known people who have used EZPZ Hosting in the past, however recently I have been hearing poor reviews. GoDaddy offer a Turnkey business solution to web hosting/domain reselling too. I would recommend you searched review sites and Web Hosting Talk forum to identify which would be the best for you.

Another solution may be to use an affiliation scheme. These tend to install their own pages/advertisements on your website and you gain commission from the sales. This is the lowest level of involvement when it comes to the web hosting industry. Most of the large hosting providers offer this service. So it would be the case of searching through and identifying the best for your circumstance.

You could think of a completely different approach. Depending on how much traffic your website receives, you might be able to forward that traffic onto someone else. Maybe selling the domain could be an avenue you could go down. All depends on your situation/circumstances and what you hope to get from it. If you don't plan on using the domain in the future, it may be best to offload it and earn some money from the sale!

    Hope my ideas help :D

What is the Domain name and is it .com or .co.uk or .net otherwise there is very limited demand and i doubt many people even consider the difference between say a three letter name that is meaningless unless like B&Q or DIY to a more meaningful 5 or 7 letter name

As you already have the name why not tell us what it is
