Utility Warehouse yes/no

What do you think of their distributor programme?

Why not just become a proper telecoms reseller and make a better margin and have the freedom to set your own prices. A number of telecoms aggregators will even carry out the end user tech support for you! There are quite a few aggregators out there. Nine Telecom, O-Bit Telecom, Chess Telecom, Zen Telecom, Channel telecom, and many, many more, some good, some bad and some that you would not wish to touch with a barge pole. Many of these companies will also carry out the billing for you and collect the customer payments for you!

I have just had a quick look at Utility Warehouse, why work for a small % when you could have a very saleable asset if you start your own telco and get a couple of thousand customers on board.

I was sold this package. Gas, leccy, even a phone all on the same bill.

It's a pyramid scheme - like Avon etc. You make a slice of what you sell plus a slice of what your understudies make.

Made sense at first, but I ended up saving money by switching back to British Gas and BT!

PYRAMID. - NO.

Definition of Pryamid. Become an agent of said company. Buy loaf of bread for 50p, sell same loaf to your recruit for 55p, who sells it to the next etc etc. UW is not a pryamid scheme or scam. it is a business that if you do the work, just like any other business it grows. WOW ! What is so different than that. You do have to work to get the income in. Is that reminnding all of you who started businesses here how it was day 1.

It can be very rewarding, but "wake up call" like all businesses work and hours are definitiely needed.

I have met a few UW 'business owners'.
It doesn't make any real money, is rife with mis selling and whomever said mugs game has got my vote.

Thats the thing with MLM you are not the 'owner' you are an agent. The terms, material/service costs are set by the scheme promoter not the agent. This isn't specific to UW and to be fair they are a credible company.

That said the home telecoms market is ultra-competitive now with the likes of Sky and virgin media being able to offer blinding deals as an add-on to existing services.

I mentioned in another thread why I don't go to networking meetings:

Because on the odd occasion I have been just about every other person there was a Utility Warehouse 'Business Owner'

And I have to say - many did seem 'desperate'.

Dotty I am sorry you have met up with dementors who are UW "business owners". I am a UW distributor and team leader. However, I have to say that a couple of the distributors that have joined my team are earning good monthly incomes, more than me and are on a roll to make a packet out of this business. So desperate No! I think it is more their not doing. I my self could be earning more, but have not been working my business for the last few months cos my husband has been ill. However, others in my team have continued theirs and done very well, better than me also proving that this is NOT a pyramid.

What I would say is that those who do not know how UW works should not throw stones. I dont at other organisations what makes it ok for you to do it to my colleagues and me.
Many people who are UW distributors, are earning incomes which are helping them thru this recession and are helping them to continue their prime businesses. Where is the harm in that!

Sorry didn't mean any offence.

What I meant by 'desperate' is that they all appeared to be jostling for position to talk to me and everyone else in the room.

Your right I know nothing about your businesses so am not in a position to judge it's viability.

My only conclusion given the observation I made above is that it SEEMS rather saturated (around here at least).

I agree there are some who do not treat UW as a business <<profanity removed by mod>>

However, there are some of us, and I do hope my peers on here think this, that try to work the business as a business and are accountable.

Thank you for being honest.

Best wishes

I think you are splitting hairs, call it what you like but it is a pyramid scheme plain and simple. Success relies entirely on recruiting other numpties, who need to recruit their own numpties and so on, the earnings start at bugger all and slide down to naff all.

It isn't a scam, that would imply that they trick otherwise smart people into taking part. Instead they just tell everyone they know about it and any idiots knocking about lap it all up without doing the figures.

Has anyone ever met a UW 'business owner' that they thought would be an attractive employment candidate?

Has anyone ever met a UW person that doesn't do another 'job' as well or have an interest in another business?

I know the ones I have met recently stand up at brekkie meetings and tell the room about UW then say as an aside oh yes and I also do x y and z!

It might not be the national trend, but it does put me off using them!

Not often you say something that doesn't make my teeth itch miss but you are bang on the money with UW.
