I've just had my new pc installed and I have been using it for a couple of hours, the PC is great but I have been trying to access one of our websites and it doesn't load properly on my new monitor.

I have reverted back to checking it on my laptop where it loads perfectly but anytime I try view it on my new PC it is missing parts and moving other parts. I am unable to get hold of my web developer as he is on holiday this week so thought would pick the brains of the experienced around the UKBF. I think it may have something to do with my new monitor and the resolution but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very happy to hear them.

Thanks!

It will be something to do with resolution & browser probably. Still, your web developer would probably have tested it in a few tbh.

Post your url here, and a number of people can try it on a number of browsers with different settings, to see the result.

A common problem!

Try changing the screen resolution on your laptop and see is the same thing happens. What browser version are you using on the laptop and PC? Have you tried using a different browser?

To me it sounds (based on assessment without URL or extra knowledge) like you're using plugins for some of the content on the site - most likely Flash - that you haven't yet installed on your browser on the new machine.

For flash, if you go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and install the player plugin, you may find that the site works again for you.

Oh, and if that works, slap your web developer when they return from holiday because
a) They should be using a noscript tag so that content still displays even when Flash isn't there
b) They should also have a link to the Flash Player on the site if it's that reliant on Flash.

A case of cross browser and cross resolution compatibility. The bain of my life at the moment.

Your web developer will most likely have to get back to work on the site making it cross browser compatible. I'll be surprised if it has anything to do with media plug ins, this wouldn't cause things to move about on the page.
