Using a VA with Instagram

Hi there,

Does anybody use a VA from a different location to manage their Instagram account?

Most of my business comes through Instagram, it's essentially my shop front.

Recently I allowed my VA access to it (who is from the Philippines) and I got the feeling Instagram didn't like it.

I had to verify my identity, and occasionally small restrictions were placed on my account.

Because Instagram is so important to my business I thought it best to dis-allow access to my VA just to be on the safe side. I've heard horror stories of people getting banned without much explanation or recourse.

But I'm sure businesses much bigger than mine must use VA services or social media management agencies.

Does anybody do this and can suggest ways I might approach it?

I've considered asking my VA to use a VPN, but I'm sure Instagram must also not love that.

Any help is much appreciated,

Mark

Don’t let anyone have access to any of your SM accounts. Their terms specifically tell you not to do this.

You are putting a lot of trust into your VA if your IG is your main source of business.

Regarding a simple, best practice, if you did wish to continue doing what you are doing:

- Have your VA use a multi-login browser using the same user agent info you use to login to IG.
- Have your VA use a UK 4G proxy on the multi-login profile.

Now anyone in your team (VA's, yourself etc) can access this profile on the multi-login browser and IG will always see it as the 'same' person/device accessing the account.

As Graham mentioned though, it would of course be better to do it in a fashion in which IG would recommend rather than this 'blackhat' route :)

This is extremely helpful, thank you.

I know what you mean about it all being a bit risky. I have had my VA for years though and have never had a reason to distrust her. I'm more concerned with Instagram pulling the plug!

I may aim to broaden my sales funnels first -- we do have an email list and other social media accounts that I can put work in to.

Thanks again,
Mark

That’s the worry. IG can close you down in an instant if they think something is awry.

We have used Hootsuite with agency access, which you can then control through permissions based on Teams within Hootsuite and what they can and cannot do. Using this or similar tools is what manage organisations do allowing external agencies access to their socials.

    Hi Ozzy,

Thanks for your feedback. Can we request authorization as a partner directly from Meta Business settings, or does it have to be done through a third-party tool? Are there any other settings required apart from the partner account?

Thanks for your advice. I have been searching for this for quite a long time now.
