Use of university logos on my website

Hi

I run a proofreading company and we do a lot of proofreading and editing for students. I've noticed that one of my competitors has listed a few universities that they 'work with', i.e. they have proofread for students at those universities. They have each uni's logo on their site which are clickable links to the uni's website.

Would I be allowed to do the same on my site or would I need to get permission from the universities in question?

Need permission as you are using copyrighted or trademarked material, registered or not. Of course whether the university would object if you did not seek permission is unknown.
