Morning,

I'm after some help please!

After 20+ years in sales and 10+ years in Psychology and Influence and Persuasion techniques, I'm looking to start along my current sales job a training / coaching business in this field.

I come across so many sales people still getting the most basic of things wrong, businesses must be losing money hand over fist.

Getting clients wont be an issue, my questions are, has anybody else started a training company, how did you get started? is one on one or group training the best approach?

Thanks

I did the same as you are proposing - many years ago, before the internet, CRM systems and so on.

"Getting clients won't be an issue"? I'm intrigued - do tell. There are dozens of companies, scores of individuals and an unlimited number of YouTube videos purporting to offer various levels of sales training. Most teach the same old rubbish. You'll need something convincingly different to succeed - preferably in a sector you're familiar with.

Sales Training is part training, part entertainment and for that you need an audience to interact with. I found a group of between 6 and 10 individuals worked best.

Good luck.

It’s really simple. You just need to market the training, take the cash and present the course.

Don’t need to be a company. You can do this a sole trader.

Note: should have said you need to be better at marketing than everyone else flogging the same thing or have a very fat book of contacts.

If I'm going to be a sales coach and can't sell my own training to companies then something is seriously wrong ?

They do all teach the same old rubbish, I'll be coming from a psychological angle, which I never seem to come across? It goes beyond sales really, it's how to deal with people in a way that tickles their brain!
It's easier (and somewhat more profitable) to badge it up in a sales format.

I was thinking small workshops of around that size.

Have you identified your target client?

Will you be selling to one man bands or teams of sales people?

How long is the course? Can you do it in the company offices?

Does it work on zoom?

Target markets identified, companies who sell a service.

Sales teams, but was also thinking of running a small Saturday workshop for one man bands and small local businesses as many people have good ideas but lack the sales skills to get them off the ground (which could be used to really nail down my lesson plan)

2-3 hours tops, which can be run at their premises, could also work over Zoom but I'd prefer face to face.
