ANZ have a challenge as to how to handle this winter.
You are right actually because our summer is their winter, so, as this is a seasonal virus, their Flu season is coming up shortly,, i.e. before they have vaccinated all the vulnerable.
Aus & NZ are a very interesting one. Our government is having a hard enough time generating the self confidence to just get back to normal, how much harder will it be for Aus & NZ ? Will they ever get back to normal ?

Check my post. I was talking in general about the places that go for zero Covid and how few cases they need to have to lockdown fast
Brisbane lockdown: Australian city to shut down over seven cases
Auckland, New Zealand, Under Lockdown After 3 Covid-19 Coronavirus Cases Emerge

This is all getting too confusing, put it down to a breakdown in communication.....

Think they said some time ago they would continue to ban international travel to end of 2021

They have news today of creating a travel bubble between New Zealand and Australia only I think. Ive not read the detail

I guess they will be grateful we've made vaccines otherwise they would have been looking at much longer term isolation

So again in terms of international travel at least we start looking like we are now in a better position than 2 countries we were envious of before

They will be isolated internationally for far longer than us

I guess domestically theyve had a better time than us

Pros and cons of both approaches

Their approach could never have worked for us IMO

We are way more reliant and used to international travel in and out

It was pointed out on the radio this morning that if only 1 in 1000 of these lateral flow tests gives false positive, and every adult is apparently expected to do 2 tests a week, that's 100 million a week, and 1 in 1000 false positives is 100,000.
Are they so cynical they will then use that (or the apparent increase in infections resulting from the huge increase in testing) as an excuse to keep some of the suppression measures ?
Surely not.....
Nothing is off the table, we are living in a post rational world.

People will use the tests to get sick pay and more days off

Some will want to be positive or claim it said they were positive when it didnt

False positives will be great. No doubt somewhere on Google it will tell you how you can get false positives!!
