The tobacco taboo

After talking with my wife today I might consider a small side business in the tobacco industry and was wanting some advice.

I currently like to roll and smoke my own cigars and have created a couple of flavours that I’m very fond of. The wife suggested selling them on the side.

Would anyone have any experience in this regarding laws and tax requirements?

Understand the rules re duty - they may cost a few pence to make, but you then have to pay £417.33 per kg (which isn't actually a lot!).

As a very rare and occasional cigar smoker (weddings, funerals, special occasions etc) I think that there might be some mileage in it, but it will depend on the overall offer and pricing.

Create a brand called Bulldog Cigars (if available) or similar, promote as British made and whack up a website...

Oh, I forgot to add, do flavoured cigars - whisky (branded malts), brandy etc.

BTW, I would also be happy to test......
