The real-world benefits of becoming a chartered director (via IOD)

Hi all,

Apologies if this is the wrong sub-forum to post under.

I'm thinking about undertaking the work required in order to become a chartered director (https://www.iod.com/training/qualifications/chartered-director). I understand the benefits as the IoD state them - but I wonder if anybody has any real world experience of the usefulness of becoming a chartered director?

For example, does it open up new doors for networking? New NED opportunities? Real-world examples of how being a chartered director has positively impacted your business?

I'm all ears! Would love to hear from anybody with experience here.

After 30 years in business, this is the first time I've even heard of a chartered director, so I guess it isn't terribly important!
