The car thread

I have a mental barrier with buying/leasing an expensive car, I'm more interested in gadgets than cars. I've had a figure in my head with the amount of profit I want to be making before I get a nice car.

TTP do you drive a megane?

(I'm your new potentially ill-informed stalker)

Spreading around the middle. 50th birthday almost coming into sight.

For the first time ever when discussing my car I use words like reliable, economical, comfortable.. (its a diesel Mondeo)

Can't wait to get back into an M3...

apart from that, i've only driven boring cars like a Fiesta, Megane (shocker), Vectra and Primera (chavtastic version).

I took my car to Webuyanycar.com in Gloucester at the weekend - a 5 year old Vauxhall Signum with 130,000 miles on the clock, a clutch on its last desperate breath and an angry monkey banging stuff with a big hammer for an engine if the noise was anything to go by. Not saying I had no faith in the car, but my missus followed in her car with a tow rope and we avoided the M5 just in case.

Got £1800 for it :) Most chuffed.

Only one problem, forgot one important bit - the bit about buying a new car. Am car-less at the moment.

It's a Vito 108D, the non-turbo model. pre 2003 shape.

It was a bit tired because it wasn't looked after prior to my ownership. I've fixed a few things, gave it a full service and got the paintwork back from milky pink to bright red.

I was considering a Sprinter, but I dont need a van that size. Vito size is ideal for my purpose

Which one?

We use Sprinters, clunky gear change but comfortable and reliable.

Moved to Time Out.

Come on, now. You know better than this! :) Threads of this type belong in Time Out, not in the General Business area.

As I'm sure you can read, I put it in general and asked that it wasn't moved as time out threads fall off the bottom of page three and disappear reasonably quickly, whereas car talk hijacking threads is an ongoing occurrence.

Oh well.
