The best place to submit your articles

Hi all, me again!

I am just wondering where is the best place(s) to submit your article.

I am doing some 'how to' articles, I have published on my website how to install a washing machine and will do maintaining your appliances and energy ratings etc. I just want maximum benefit and so would like advice on where is best to submit them?

I currently use wordpress and blogspot but thats it pretty much.

Thanks in advance.

There are many sites where you can make free submissions but the problem with these are that the majority have other peoples adverts on them which devalues your links.

The third party advertising will depend on whether you are prepared to pay and therefore the more you pay the less this advertising applies, distribution also has to be taken into account.

It's easy to find these sites by simply putting article submission sites or press release sites into Google.

I now mainly use one site for all my articles and pay a fee once a month which is only about £20, this allows me to submit as many articles as I like but there is much more to it.

There is no advertising from third parties on this site. Articles sit on pages with real ranking power and by combining articles and keywords in a particular way, (which you get training for) with a couple of links back to a main article on your blog or news page on the main site and finally to the product or service, you get many valuable links.

There is also value of course in Social networking and bookmarking.

Good luck.

The best article directories without doubt are:

ezinearticles.com
articlesbase.com
buzzle.com
associatedcontent.com
suite101.com
goarticles.com
articlesnatch.com
articlealley.com
articledashboard.com
articlecity.com
isnare.com
articleblast.com
articlecube.com
a1articles.com
articletrader.com

We would also recommend:

ehow.com
squidoo.com
hubpages.com

Posting articles to the above diretories on a regular basis works well because;

1) You send a ton of targeted traffic (prospective customers) to your website/products/services

2) If you provide an anchor link with your keyword as the anchor text, you are building a backlink to your site therefore increasing the chances that your website will rank higher for that keyword

This whole process is called article marketing and although effective, it can be quite time consuming. This whole process is completely outsourcable, allowing you to focus on implementing other new business strategies

I post articles only to ezine and articledashboard, other resources are rather low quality and I don't want to waste time on them.

Not at all, the above list are the better of the rest, considedring there are literally hundreds of article directories, and squidoo and hub pages are a must for anyone participating in regular content marketing

Really enjoyed reading this post however because this article was published in 2011 alot of the links are not working like suite101, associatedcontent, articlesnatch. These links are working:
  • ezinearticles
  • articlealley
  • squidoo redirects to hubpages
  • articledashboard
  • articlebase
  • goarticles redirects to ezinearticles
  • ehow need to submit an application for approval

I thought I'd just gone back to 2005! Article sites...really?

If you are looking for SEO value for your articles...do NOT use article sites. Google devalued article sites years ago.

Find a good, proper website that will want to publish your content. Forget article sites, they are pointless and you will just be wasting your time.

Depending on your particular focus, you can post to a variety of social bookmarking sites. Inbound.org, for example, is great for SEO, SMO, blogging, and internet marketing. ManageWP.org is a good place to post WordPress-related articles, while DesignFloat is perfect for web designers, and DZone is a good fit for developers.

Inbound.org is full of junk - it's seo value is almost zero. The others aren't much better. These sort of sites were knobbled by Google years ago so it's not even worth the effort of signing up let alone submitting anything.

Search for the question on Google and see the sites appearing in the top 20 - that's where you want to appear.

If that isn't going to happen, then publish on your own site, so you build some brand equity. Then mention the post on your social accounts by linking to the article on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Do NOT blast it out to a bunch of article directory sites - you might as well play russian roulette with a fully loaded gun.

Why?

Ezine got hammered by Google years ago. Post the articles on your own site and get all the benefits.

sums it all up!

Instead of posting articles on these types of sites, only to have them ignored and not read by anybody at all, send them to Mrs Millie Tooley of 17, Oil Drum Lane, Sudcup and she will ignore them for you.

The advantage there is that Mrs Millie Tooley will ignore your articles personally - so much better than having them ignored by an algorithm!

Yes, I would suggest you submit your articles to third-party websites who run blogs. It's better to do content marketing than submitting articles on article submission websites.

You can start approaching influencer bloggers or website related to your website niche and get your articles published.

No, don't do that.

Publish the articles on your own site. The methods you suggest are the methods Google advises against.

Yes I agree with fisicx above article sites are quite old these days. I remember back in the day Google penalizing a whole group of article sites for having articles from other members, and most of those sites which were penalized by Google have now been taken offline. I think your best option would be just to post the articles to your own blog. There are considerably more promotional methods now than ever, and to get readers to your article should be relatively easy.

Huffingtonpost, forbes.com, inc.com, entrepreneur.com, newswire, tech.co..
These websites have so much power, articles posted here rank on google for the 3-4 words tittle of the post immediately. Not that easy to get something published on these sites though. Niche and topic related websites with blogs that already rank on google are probably the best choice.

If you have great content, publish it on your own site. That should be your priority. If it gains any links, then your site will benefit. Forget about article directories, they are a busted flush as far as SEO is concerned. If you want to publish on other sites, make sure they are either quality or if they are niche sites, make sure they get some traffic (from your target audience). If you publish on other sites, make sure you don't just copy the article you have on your own site. Write a different article, it can be on the same topic, and address/solve the same problems, but don't just copy.

BTW, "how to" type content does very well on YouTube. Why not do some short videos on the subject?
