Hello everyone,
I am currently shipping printed products from HK to UK via Hong Kong Post which is not very cost effective. I got a decent rate from DHL the other day but it requires at least 100kg per air freight shipment. Their operation is door to door but not one origin to multiple destinations.
One approach for me is to group couple of sales order together as one big shipment. I am currently exploring the possibilities of shipping one big lot to a distribution centre in UK, split the goods and then ship it to different UK addresses.
The problem is I am not based in UK and major UK couriers won't help us to split the goods and put their shipping labels on the boxes. So, I am planning to approach local and regional logistics company. DHL will ship our goods to their warehouse, their warehouse operator will split up the goods based on our given sales order list. They could deliver the goods for us or find local couriers like city link, ukmail and parcel monkey (anyone used them before?)
As our customers spread across UK, finding the right local logistics operator will be crucial for this. I heard that for ocean freight, companies based in Southampton would be a good choice. But we have customers in Scotland, Wales, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
