Complete waste of time, especially for garden maintenance and other such businesses. You don't want those who are shopping around, if you are making your living doing it. You'll end up running around chasing your tail, and earning no more than about 20 quid an hour whilst you are doing it.

If you haven't already try some local area groups on Facebook that allow advertising (usually one day a week). A friend of mine does very well from recommendations/referrals on there as a day doesn't go by when there isn't at least 4 or 5 requests for recommendations in his sector (where people will then tag him in).

You don't need to pay to access one of the tendering portals, just register at the ones for the local councils you are interested in and other public sector bodies needing your services such as housing associations. They either have individual ones or area ones.

I am not sure if you can develop profitable business on gardening. As this is seasonal job, you will probably have customers only during several months in a year. Some people prefer to maintain gardens by themselves. As a sort of hobby, this might be good idea which can provide some extra funds

Have a look at Tenders Direct. They have a very comprehensive website providing information on everything from plans, pricing, training and they provide fantastic follow-up support.

    I hope this helps.
