Hi

I would like a business telephone but without the hassle of carrying a second mobile.

Does it put you off a business using a mobile number?

Or will I need to get a call forwarding service?

Unless you're a plumber or equivalent trade where you're not expected to be in an office or shop or other single location, you need a landline number. A mobile number just shouts 'one-man-band'.

What's your business - why are you 'carrying' a phone around?

I get my landline from RingCentral - which means all my calls go over internet as VOIP so the calls are paid for in my existing broadband package. This also provides a web based control panel which lets you "forward" the calls to your desk phone,to your mobile or to voice mail. You can also set up to ring both or to ring one for a number of seconds then try the other one. Very flexible. You can change setting on the web page. You also get a fax number. The web site gives you a full call log. Voice mail can be forwarded to email. There is also a smartphone app to control it.

As has been said, it implies one man band. And if you are marketing by using flyers, I wouldn't even consider using a business with just a mobie number and no address shown

I'm a security engineer and started trading by myself recently, im looking for flyers and currently my website has a mobile number on it but that's my personal number and really want to distinguish between the 2 without the need for more contracts or phones.

I have a home phone with a 01 number but i'm out and about so it's useless for me to advertise it. Plus the children could easily answer it lol. Not very professional.

If you have a website you have internet access. Get a geographical VOIP number for the area you live in and forward to the mobile when needed.
I use Voipfone who a) are very affordable, b) are very reliable and c) have a great help/service backup team.
I would highly recommend getting a Snom phone (the hardware bit) already preconfigured from Voipfone. Plug it in and you are working. I still use a basic Snom 300 set up and it is a real workhorse.
And no, I'm not on commission or an affiliate or even a mate. Just a satisfied punter.

I'd highly recommend getting a local number (01 or 02) through somoeone like Voipfone.

We use them for all of our business lines, simply because it allows us to forward the calls to another number if needed e.g. if you're going out of the office for 10 minutes or if the regular phone line is down for whatever reason, you can forward the calls elsewhere.

My question are though:
1) Is this inbound only? If I call from my mobile then it will display my number
2) Whats the setup cost?
3) Does it cost to receive calls?
4) Whats the monthly cost?

It's an inbound and outbound number, but calls from your mobile will display your mobile CLI.

It costs to divert the call from your landline number to your mobile - 10p per minute.

We have a free app that automatically diverts your calls when you leave home/office, then knocks it off when you return. Calls will then go to your VoIP phone (if you want one) which makes them free.

I'd normally say give us a call, but the lines are closed until Tuesday. You can email and you'll get answered usually within an hour or so - support at voipfone co uk.

Hi I'm also looking for business phone number and found this thread on google.

I am considering getting a phone number from voipfone and diverting it to my mobile however I assume the diversion will cost money. I would prefer them if they called my mobile direct so that I don't get charged for diversion. So I want to also display a mobile phone number next to the voip/ landline phone number on letter heads and business cards. But to make my business mobile number look more professional I was thinking of getting a voip number and then a buy a mobile phone number with the same matching 6 digits at the end using a service that offers mobile numbers for sale such as http://numberchoice.uk/ So on business letter heads it would look something like this:

M: 077** 511000

You'd have to get very, very lucky.......

The only way I can think of that might work is to look at the fifty of so numbers we offer per page, then search the mobile number site. But you also have to be careful that the number is a standard UK one, not the expensive to call Jersey etc types.

I have checked with them and it is a normal pay as you go sim card i.e. (077, 078, 079 etc) and I can transfer it to any mobile phone network of my choice.

I cannot see the numbers on your site, do you have a link? Can you give me some examples of numbers you have as I cannot seem to find it on your website. When I try to choose my own mobile number on that site they seem to have most 6 digits available unless it is something like 999999 which are apparently called gold numbers and not available.
