Telemarketing - does it work?

Hi all

Same as per subject really, does telemarketing work?

We're looking to use a well recommended telemarketer for an initial 8hr trial period and wondering what we might expect from it?

One of our customers does the same thing as you. We've given them around a £6k ROI on a £1000 investment so far but 8 hours is going to get you absolutely nowhere.

It certainly does work in your industry though,

Hi,

In answer to your question, yes telemarketing does work if carried out by a reputable experienced company. You need to make sure that the company you are contracting is not outsourcing the business and that it is all handled in house. You also need to make sure the company working on your behalf has all the information they need to know in order to carry out an effective campaign.

We have recently carried out a telemarketing campaign for a local company and within 10 hours we provided 2 appointments for website design and printed media. Although I do agree with the other networkers that 8 hours is a little low for a good level of results!

We offer pilot campaigns so you can try our services without a long term commitment. Our rates are very reasonable and I would like to discuss this with you in more detail.

Please let me know if I can be any further assistance.

Lucy :)

To go back to your question.. about what you might expect from an 8 hour trial:-

* About 150 call attempts
* Some successful contacts with people indicating if they are in the market for a website or other services or not
* Feedback on why they are not be interested
* Comments on possible areas of opportunity so that you can send further information on those particular areas relevant to them and their industry and benefits
* With a bit of luck and the wind blowing in the right direction you may get a lead or two for either a call back to arrange an appointment or to quote over the phone

My suggestion for an 8 hour trial would be for you to prepare a researched list of people who currently have poor performing websites (seo, design, not updated much etc) and who are your target market and fit with your portfolio of past work and testimonials from happy customers. When you have a list TPS check the phone numbers so you are not wasting your time (and breaking the law) by calling people cold from adverts/directory listings etc. People who are on TPS are on there for a reason ie; they don't like being called so don't call them :)

I don't agree that a short trial like this is worthless and that a bigger, longer, and more expensive financial commitment is required to dip your toe in the water and see what response and feedback is like but I guess that's the difference between telesales and telemarketing. If you are after a telesales trial and expect some actual sales from 8 hours then Telemax is right in that 8 hours isn't likely to be enough unless you strike it lucky!

I also don't think the subcontracting is an issue if you have the right sort of agreement and controls in place.

You shouldn't have to cleanse data either as clean data can be purchased cheaply

Good luck :)

Telemarketing can provide spectacular results.

We work with some of the UK’s leading telemarketing companies and I am aware that one has create over £100 million worth of new business for their client in just over 7 years. Question is, will telemarketing make money for you. I have a great little document that looks at how to calculate the ROI for your business when looking at telemarketing companies. It's important to understand this before you get started.

I would also think carefully about the amount of time you propose for piloting the campaign. I would consider 8 hrs totally insufficient to understand the potential success or failure of a campaign. Take a look at some of our telemarketing companies here, you can even leave your details and they can come back to you with a quote.

But let your self be guided by the professionals, listen to what they believe can be achieved and to design a sensible pilot that has a real chance of delivering the ROI you are looking for.

But let your self be guided by the proffessional, listern to what they beleive can be acheived and to design a sensible pilot that has a real chance of delivering the ROI you are looking for.
