Travel is a very broad category - from coach tours of little grannies, through to luxury weddings by the Indian Ocean, through to 18-30s going mad in Ibiza....and many points in between.

Number 1 tip - identify and understand your niche and build a presence where they are. Grannies are not found in the same places as the 18-30s pack and one size really doesn't fit all.

Hi Rizwan,

Have you considered using a bulk SMS messaging service for promoting your business. Not only is it a cost-effective service but it also ensures that your targeted traffic recipients actually open and read the message/ advertisement of your business as on average 99.9% of all text messages sent to 10,000 people are read, 95% are read within 5 minutes and on average they are read within 5 seconds of sending.

Our bulk SMS platform is a cost effective way of allowing your business to reach a much larger audience. Not only this but using our bulk SMS platform would also allow the recipient to reply to you within a few minutes as the average response time for SMS is 90 seconds.

If you want to know more information on what we can offer you please visit our website

Thanks,

Alice, Voodoo SMS

Hi Silky,

You have to opt in to receive SMS marketing messages - otherwise it is considered spam so somewhere along the line you may have entered your mobile number on a form that shares your information with third parties unless you un-tick the box or something! On the SMS does it give you the option to Opt Out?

At Voodoo SMS we don't allow spam messages to be sent and to prevent this from happening we offer an 'opt-out' feature to enable the senders customers to no longer receive text messages from future campaigns. All the customer has to do is send 'STOP' to a dedicated Voodoo SMS numberand they will then be automatically excluded from your future campaigns.

If done properly SMS marketing is really effective in boosting business.

For me the problem is there are so many companies who disregard this - I've never opted into any PPI info or Accident Claims so what I'm receiving isn't targeted info, but blatant spamming. I guess that's what makes me doubt how targeted the lists actually are...

As yet the only good texts that I've received have been from ticket sites I'm actually a customer of, letting me know of forthcoming events.

what is the call to action of an sms ? how do you track the visits ?

It all depends on what you want kind of message you are sending and what you want the outcome to be. We generally categorise this into 3 categories:

1. Communication e.g: The conference will start at 10am on Thursday, if you have any questions please call 01258 845666
(This would increase attendance of the conference by sending a friendly reminder and informing people of the start time)

2. Promotion e.g: 20% off online orders for the next 24 houts with voucher code: GIVEME20 [url to website]
(the CTA of this would be to get your customers to visit your website and purchase something, the success of this can be tracked in 2 ways, firstly by using a dedicated URL to see hwo many people have clicked on the link, and secondly by only using this voucher code on the SMS so you know any orders placed with this voucher code is becuase of the SMS)

3. Transaction e.g: Your parcel will be delivered tomorrow Tues 25 July between 10:00 - 11:00. Please make sure someone is available to sign for it. To rearrange please click this link: [url to website]
(the CTA on this would be to rearrange delivery if someone is not going to be in. This reduces business costs and time.)

There is not yet the technology to see who has opened the SMS but at Voodoo SMS we provide you with full delivery reports - We let you know how many of the text messages were successfully delivered and unlike many of our competitors we can tell you which numbers were unable to receive the text message because they no longer exist, so you can eliminate them from future campaigns to save valuable marketing costs.

Best solution, go for SEO!

Search Engine Optimization of your website is easy and free, all you have to do is to understand few terms and strategies and start working in spare time, sooner or later, you will have some indexing and results will arrive.

SMS/Email marketing, Social media marketing and other forums of approaches will remain for a short span and would require constant activity, whereas once your keywords are top ranked, you will have better results in some time and won’t have to worry about sending unsolicited messages to anyone.

The easiest and best idea for marketing that business?

Call fisicx, Tin or one of the other experienced marketing people from the forum, buy a day of their time, put on your Skype headset and start taking notes, asking questions, offering answers of your own and be thankful that you've just saved yourself 10 or 20 years of hard knocks, learning lessons by making mistakes and that you've now hit the ground running instead of a crawl, which is where you might have been the day before that Skype call.

Make sure you understand what you sell, who you sell to, what channels and offers are converting, your costs per, traffic sources, etc, etc, etc.

You asked for easiest and best. I think you'll find alternatives to be more difficult and less prone to succeed.

Hi Riz,
I hope you are already registered on basic directories like Yell. You can also pay them around £40-£150 for promoting your listing on top of search. In this way people searching for travel agency can have you at first instance.
If you want to promote locally then go for geographical keywords for SEO. like travel agency london or more specific. You can get results quicker with it.

We produce bespoke high def promo videos for business's and individuals. I think they are a great way of reaching out to potential customers, and also really good advertising. Does anyone have any stats for comparison between video and other forms of marketing please?

Now let me see... a quick look at your porfolio shows few videos have more than 100 views. Example jumanjipetspromo has 11 views in 9 months. Do you really think that's "really good advertising"...?

79% of people may watch online videos at least once a week (though I have grave doubts that that is true), but few would watch blatant ads for more than a few seconds. And even fewer would click through and buy.

People on Youtube want entertainment or information, preferably both.

It's not whether video is better than other marketing channels (as hopefully you already know) its whether you are using a channel appropriate for your target audience and providing them with a quality product that engages your consumer.

Anyway if this is an area of interest for you you'd be better starting your own thread, rather than crashing someone else's.

Video does work, of course it does. All mediums work, providing the strategy is right. If you create a good videos that are interesting or entertaining (as Weblinkplus said) they'll work.

I suggest you do some research and get your stats and case studies in order if your business is selling video!
