Hello everyone,

I am just starting a business consultancy to help and advise people who are starting a new business. I have several business degrees, have run other businesses, am business minded and creative so feel i can offer proper help and advice, aswell as helping with creative ideas. I eventually want to build up a one stop shop i.e. have a marketing specialist, accountant, legal adviser etc etc

I was woundering where people think it is best to advertise and where is free to advertise. I have limited funds. Also if anybody would like to offer their services then please PM me if you want to come on board with this project.

thanks

Hi

Normally, I believe that one should be civil and courteous to thier fellow forum members, however, I have to say, that you are passing yourself off as a business adviser, stating that you have run businesses but asking about where to advertise!

Are you serious!

I suspect that as others have implied, you may have problems being taken seriously doing this kind of thing. If you are 19, then I can't see how you can also have had much experience of running other businesses. Especially if you've also had time to get got "several business degrees"

But hey, what do I know? I'm "poncy" according to you in another thread : )

Hi Robert - isn't this the kind of thing that the kind of business you're trying to be should know? In fact, it's the kind of thing other people would be coming to you for!

That said, I'd suggest you try things like the Shell LiveWire forum and so on.

look in to being a prince's trust advisor/mentor or whatever..not sure about rates of pay..i think they may be volunteer only.

i do what you're proposing already but at the moment its very locally based and i've only just moved in to this area. it can be quite tricky because one minute your dealing with a web design company thats forward thinking and in the next meeting that day your dealing with a mobility scooter company that has an older client base and wants something totally different.

i've run 3 different businesses but i'm still learning. i can offer lots of advice from what i've learnt already in the last 6 years since i started but i'm still not 100% spot on with the things i do.

oh and p.s. i started at 16 in art sales and web design but i found it impossible to be taken seriously...even now at 22 people still look at me as if i'm a small child..its frustrating

I had that at 24 in sales, fair enough as well I wouldn't take someone half my age talking about my profit and loss seriously either to be honest!

I am concerned that you want to set up in this field Rob. You have made many posts on this forum and at different points, if my memory serves me correctly, have asked:

Where to find start up finance?
a copywriter for your site
a web designer
what is voip?
How to market in China?
How to market online?
Do you have to inform the insurance company that you will be operating a bsiness from home?
How to put together a contract?
What you should name your business?

There are probably many more that I have forgotten.

You have also asked for a business partner, asked where to get £25000 without having to guarantee it, advertised a job and tried to sell advert space at £300 a month on your website.

None of these questions are bad, but they are not the questions of someone that is about to set up business helping other people set up businesses!

My company (not officebird, another) offer a pre start service and have agreements in place with solicitors and accountants etc that can offer professional tailored advice as well as having a team of people within the company that have been running businesses of different descriptions for years.

However in response to your question, we find pre-starts through exhibitions and word of mouth mainly, we also put on courses which sometimes generate clients, although that is a by product and not the intention of the course. The pre start service we offer was born out of a need and is only really an add on to our existing company.

I have to admit, I'm with the others, especially when you start another thread asking how to generate business. See HERE

You also don't seem to know much about taking out a loan, and started a thread to ask for advice, HERE

You needed advice on how to sell advertising on a website, with 3-5 thousand hits a day, HERE

Only back in May you were "very busy with university studies and other things and so do not have my full time or energy to put into the business" so I cannot understand how you have the time to set up another business.

I think you need to take a long hard look at yourself. Posting messages like the above, when it can easily be shown that you haven't got the knowledge or experience, is not the best way to make friends.

Ha!

I hear from so many "business advisers" and the like that I am yet to be convinced that they know anything different to what you can read on the net, free of charge.

I have a Diploma in business studies and I got it by doing very little excepting drinking and having fun so I do not hold these qualifications in any kind of light other than a verification that you know how to spell the word "Business!"

I would get my advice from reading business books from successful people such as Richard Branson and Ray Kroc but certainly not from anyone who has a shop on Ebay to their credit and nothing else.

Good post. At 19 IMO you have hardly any life experience let alone business.

That reminds me to get the Ray Kroc one.

I think it is more likely that he keeps to the same username no matter which site he goes on and probably the first one, when he typed "Robert" said it was taken and he could use "Robert1989".

I've had this on sites in the passed with "Ashley". I guess if I had have had "Ashley2004" you would assume I was only 4 years old. :p
