Good morning all,

I currently own a Self storage business which has been open for about 20 years and are ever getting bigger due to demand.

It is a converted farm so we have space and land accesssible. I am currently converting my biggest shed and wanting to explore the option of a fulfilment centre.

Does anyone have experience in this? Or better yet is there anyone on here that would be so kind to invite us to look around and talk to us about fulfilment or 3PL?

I am doing as much research as I can but would love to go and see some for myself and speak to people who have knowledge.

Thanks Ross

Hi Ross,
I own a small fulfillment company in southern Scotland and would be happy to have a chat. The main thing to take into consideration is the commitment. You are dealing with other peoples business and you need to be willing and able to cover their eventualities, peaks and troughs. If you have a thriving storage facility I would have thought that your existing customers are the first ones to look at. Maybe some of them need fulfillment services? As a complimentary service alongside the storage might be the way to start. Good luck.

And you have planning permission?

Carol's comment about speaking to your current clients is a good one.

You will need to get your systems, processes, tracking etc sorted out and understand staffing requirements, as volumes will be seasonal and erratic.

Hi Carol
Thank you so much for replying to my post and for your offer and advice! I would very much like to have a chat when convenient for you as it would help us to understand the commitment involved. When would be a good time to chat - sometime next week maybe?
Thanks
