I'm self-employed but have one employee on payroll. Am I able to host a staff party and claim as a business expense (up to £150 for my one employee) like a limited company can?

Also, if I hosted two parties a year (summer party & xmas party) would I be able to divide the expense and allow £75 budget for each party?

Thank you in advance.

Why not invite HMRC? - With a good 'Party Atmosphere,' it should not be a problem! :) (I am wondering if the HMRC 'Connect System' has gathered THIS POST as information that their own staff might be accepting 'Gifts and Favours?' - However, I doubt it!)

Oh dear, not another 'Knock on the Door!' - Or a further visit from 'Rosa Klebb,' carrying out a VAT Inspection with 3 Minions to a business NOT registered for VAT!

Unfortunately, I had to tell 'Rosa' that I was busy dealing with the 'Planning Enforcement Officers' (Messrs Wint and Kidd), who arrived to deal with Enforcement Measures on a property that was exempt from Planning Permission.

RISHI'S MONEY TREE HAS TO BE PAID FOR!

This is what my accountant sent me when I enquired...

You have a £150 per head allowance for staff for an annual event. However this is for employed staff only, so would only include staff 1 and staff 2. Being a sole trader, you unfortunately can’t include yourself, and you can’t include sub-contractors either.
