Spam Solution

Hi All, We have 3 email addresses and we get so much spam. They are help on our own private server and we access them by outlook. Can anyone recommend an effective solution? TiA :)

Have you got spam assassin set up on the server?

Kills 99% of all known spam.

Yes we do have that but it doesn't work very well.
Then you haven’t set it up properly. Same with outlook. If properly configured they will block almost all spam.

Do you publish your email address on the website? If so you need to stop.

    As above, just be careful not to set it too strict as sometimes they block emails that you want, have regular checks over your blocked emails and you should find the setting that works best for you.

    As said you will need to tweak the Spamassassin default settings, There are two areas to look at:

    The scores you use for marking as Spam or rejecting at SMTP time (if you are doing that).
    The scores that are assigned for various tests. You can almost certainly increase the scores for the various URI tests.
    Loads of info on Google on this.

    You could also consider installing the Clamav Unofficial Signatures. They are good at blocking dodgy phishing type spam.

    And I presume you are using the DNS blocklists - Spamhaus and CBLabuseat?
