Sourcing silver jewellery from India

I know a lot about ecommerce and want to set up a jewellery website.

I want jewellery from India but i have no idea how to go about sourcing it. I've used alibaba a lot in the past but I can't find a suitable equivalent for india, I've looked at the obvious ones but they don't have the jewellery range I am looking for.

I've also looked as several big websites for Indian jewellery suppliers but these don't list their stock / have what I'm looking for.

Where is the best place to start?

My eldest son and his mother are now in Goa after a few weeks in Jaipur.

It is cheap as chips, they’ve sent a load of stuff back to the uk to sell at festivals etc next year.

I was going to suggest the same. Flights aren't expensive and once the locals know you are looking to buy bulk all sorts of deals can be made.

Yes, I did think about that but need to know where to go once I’m there. Jaipur does seem to be the place from what I’ve read. Did they just go to markets, I’ve no idea what to expect.

Markets, yes.

I believe they’re pretty regular, and big! There was some element of research / advanced planning but the flights were cheap so a great way to get amongst it.

Someone I know went to Jaipur in August to source gems.

She went back home extremely unimpressed.

I've since found out Johari Bazaar is the jewellery district (kind of like hatton garden i guess in nature) in Jaipur, it's a huge market area. Updating this in case anyone comes across this looking for the same thing.

Next step is to find a guide, let me know if anyone knows where to start with that.

My niece in London UK is already in this business regularly she does local trade shows around London and if you want i can put in touch with her.

She carries a lot of stock and can get anything else at short notice and all her products are quality-guaranteed.
