I run a post office and up till now have worked with family, Now I am looking to employ someone to replace me but need to get things very right as we deal with sensitive info and value stock. So I am looking to have a system in place where I can see the activity of employees remotely. By see I mean I would like to see whats being entered in to the system, cash figures employees counting cash etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to achieve this?

Do you mean to see the financial information at the end of the day, or actually see what they're doing throughout the day. If you want to see what they're doing throughout the day you could watch them on the CCTV, but obviously you'd have to make it clear that you were doing that. If it's the financial information, they surely the post office provide that with their systems?

sorry for the late reply, totally forgot I had asked this question.
I actually want to be able to see cash figures throughout the day. I want to be able to see that figures marry up with physical cash in hand. Also I would like to see the screen to help staff if they get stuck anywhere.

Any pos worth it’s salt has a remote management system. Basically a phone app or website you log into and see the running totals taken in real time. As for mirroring the screen, it can be done by remote connection but I think this is a bit over kill. Train them properly and you won’t need it.
I know how difficult it can be to leave your business in someone else’s hands, I still haven’t managed to yet...

Will the post office allow you a remote connection to their systems?

From what you say I would buy a decent camera from Amazon and test it out. Can it zoom in close enough to the displays you want to view & read the text?

PC wise, there is loads of remote PC software, google chrome remote is free & works fine. You could also put some key logging software onto the PC so you can check everything that's been done on it each day.

Not sure exactly what you're trying to achieve, @iffy

You mention sensitive info, but then introduce weakness to the system by wanting to access it remotely.

You mention valuable stock. Are you primarily concerned with innocent mistakes, customer theft, or staff theft?

Training, a decent security system (which you must already have), published employee manual / contracts explaining that evidence of theft will be handed to police etc, and a decent ePos and stock control system will help.

Ultimately you need to be able to trust the person in post, and the systems in place to support them.
