Sole trader tracking miles

    Hi there,

I have a car for business and one for personal. I want to start putting my fuel through the business for my business car.

What's the best way to track miles on the vehicle? 90% of the miles will be business with 10% possibly for the odd trip here and there for personal use.

I do use quickbooks online. Seems a bit of a nightmare recording every single trip in the milage tracker when some trips are less than 1 mile (for example dropping off repairs).

I do actually have a part time job driving for a company too (using there vehicle) so the auto-tracking would be chaos.

    Thanks

Think I'm going to use a spreadsheet template. I use Quickbooks which has a milage tracker but it's going to be a pain when I'm driving a van for another company delivering (part time time job) if its automatic.

Or a good old fashioned pen and paper, although you might also need a calculator as well!

Folder on the shelf I still like this as anybody can inspect it when required.
Lots of companies will want to sell you software but it is not always practical for running vehicles
