Hey guys

I'm in the process of starting my new ltd graphics company and I am interested to know what accountancy/book keeping software everyone is using?

Ideally my requirements would be that it is simple to use plus..
1. Keeping note of my types of stock 2. Invoicing Customers 3. Inputting receipts 4. Stock Control

Is this possible?

I am mac based with no spare PC but could always use crossover to run a PC based application on my mac but i would rather stay with a purely mac based software.

I have been looking at Macware Freelance, sage (PC Based which everybody tells me is complicated to use) Quickbooks (PC Based) (mac version is only for the USA) and I don't want to use one of those server based versions

Please help

I'm also a bit confused as to what you need the stock control for as a graphics company?

If you don't require stock then I'd highly recommend FreeAgent. It was originally designed for IT contractors, but is now spreading its wings. This means on top of all the standard bookkeeping, you can use it to keep tabs on the time you spend on each client, and send out professional looking invoices...but it doesn't really cater for stock.

Dan doesn't want web-based. FreeAgent is web-based.

Fair point...was so intrigued as to why a graphics (design?) company would need significant stock, I only glossed over the rest of the post.

Does beg the question why not web-based? It sure beats having to download updates, or constantly being hassled to buy the latest version like you get with Sage et al.

Who do you bank with? I started up a Barclays business account and they offered Quickbooks or Sage for £1 per month for the first year plus some other business sotware. I have been using QB on the advice of my accountant (as I don't have book keeping qualifications) and it is pretty straightforward, intuitive and easy to pick up. QB 2008 doesn't give you the choice to use multiple currencies but not a problem for me.
