not sure, where would i find out this chris?

Its usually different per host depending on the mail server and control panel software they are using.

As one of the other posters asked if you’re using catchall that will cause a hell of a lot of spam.

Content filters have a look in the webmail interface your provider gives you and see if there is a setting section alternatively drop me a PM and I will see if I can help you out.

I use Mailwasher Pro, http://www.firetrust.com/ which allows you to 'manage' your mail on the servers, before downloading to your pc. The program can also be trained to recognise spam, and works very well.

Yer i've used that before as well- rather a good bit of software however i'll give that new one thats been mentioned a try!

not sure, where would i find out this chris?

Who are you hosted with?

i234i,

If you don't mind changing your email provider, try http://www.bluebottle.com, it's web based and requires anybody sending you emails to complete a form, so emails sent by bots will just go into the junk folder. You can allow senders that you know to be friendly.

Also consider http://www.spamex.com, check their site out to see how it works. You can create disposable email addresses with Spamex (do this when giving out your address to online companies, because some sell your information).

Don't post your email in blogs, forums or on your website, because it will be harvested by bots and you will get spam. You can use http://www.boxbe.com if you want to post an email on a website. It acts in a similar way to Bluebottle.

Regards,

Brian

We also provide a cost effected and hosted spam filtering service which you can learn more about from the links in my signature.

Perhaps equally of use to everybody here also is our Spam Filter Talk blog which provides information, latest news and prevention tips on spam. It's a blog that everybody can read so you might find it more useful. We want to keep it non-technical and accessible as an alternative to other anti spam blogs out there which are very industry-centric

I use Spamarrest to filter my email - you can add up to 5 email addresses for the same cost of around £45 per year.

It allows you to set a Black list of senders and to verify those addresses coming into you either by uploading your contact list, by the sender verifying their details or by you verifying them personally. Once an address has been verified, they don't need to do it again.

I wouldn't be without it now - it saves me endless stress of having to delete spam.

We used to get 10s of spam e-mails every day, and it was getting really annoying. We switched provider to 3dPixelNet. They have a custom built, absolutely fantastic anti-spam system which is brilliant. We now get NO spam whatsoever, and a fantastic service from them. I can't recommend them highly enough.
