Slow Startup on Amazon?

Q

Quickpacksupplies

Question goes out to anyone else using amazon , we've recently started selling on there ans had one sale in 1 week so far.

I know its completely different to Ebay but is it known for a slow startup ?

Not sure on how to best maximize my visibility against competitors on eBay you have various methods such as TRS and FF.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe people don't want your product, the listing isn't very good, your price point is wrong, other sellers have good feedback....

Loads of reasons why you aren't selling.

Amazon bought all our products at a trade fair a year ago, said they loved the products (baby clothes) gave us some initial PO's then really didn't bother promoting our range hence it got lost amongst thousands of similar products, hardly any sales, totally disappointing, spent a fortune bringing in the stock and buying barcodes etc......wouldn't get too excited but very good luck...we haven't been impressed!

Hi guys,

I've not heard that many good things about Amazon. Horror Stories include poaching your product if it starts to sell well or under-cutting you with there mass buying power.

I'm not a great Fan of Amazon and they charges seem to much to bother with for our product.

Can't say that Amazon has been a resounding success for us either, although the same products go really well on ebay and through our website. Given the charges on Amazon, I'm seriously considering knocking it on the head with them, it costs too much by the time you've paid your monthly seller's fee and their high commission charge, for very little return.

I dont think the fees are too bad, i pay 7% + £25PCM - i think this is less then eBay + PayPal combined - i know some cats are 35% and thats just silly.

Steve

7%?? you lucky devil! We're on 17% at best. It seems to vary for us as well. When we started it was 20% of sales plus £25 a month. Factor in postage costs and you can see why you need a good markup to make it worthwhile.

I think Amazon, the world's largest online retailer, is increasingly adding third-party sellers to its site and, at the same time, wooing customers with its proprietary Kindle e- readers. Those sales contributed to total e-commerce spending that rose 15 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier. And EBay is moving away from auctions and focusing more on fixed-priced sales to drive growth.

Hi QP Supplies, what is TRS and FF for optimizing ebay sales please?

Top Rated Seller and Feature First.

Top Rated Seller status gives you a little badge and better ranking in searches.

Feature First is an option to promote a product at the top of the search results - to use this you must be a Top Rated Seller.

Hello,

As previously announced in the Business Seller News – Autumn 2012, Featured First will no longer be visible in search results on eBay.co.uk from later this evening.

Unfortunately, it may still be possible to purchase Featured First when listing an item until the week commencing 10 October. However, as Featured First won’t be visible in search results, we would advise you not to choose this option.

If you inadvertently purchase Featured First during this time, you’ll receive a full fee credit.

We apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for selling on eBay.

Regards
The eBay.co.uk Team"
