Sick pay overtime

I started work at nhs 5 months ago (previously worked there for 14 years but don't think this counts towards service as far as sick pay goes).

I broke my collar bone 1 month ago and have been on sick and will be off for another month probably.

The conditions say that as I've not had a years service I'll get 1 mth full pay, 2 months half pay.

I don't have a 'regular' pattern of overtime however it was agreed I'd be doing 2 weeks of overtime to cover a colleagues absence, my question is should I get paid for this?

The conditions say that sick pay is based on what hours the employee had worked had he/she been at work!

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

It's some time since I advised an NHS worker but the conditions always used to use 3 months actual pay (including overtime) as the basis of the calculation for 'pay' in the context you describe. Time to talk to your Union as I know this enhancement based on overtime and basic pay was a massive spend for the NHS and hit the press as wasteful so may have changed to exclude OT. Your Union would know the actual current agreement and whether or not you anything to query formally.

Up until the end of last year I had worked in HR in the NHS for ten years. Basically the sick pay rules changed recently with regard to sick pay - your occupational sick pay entitlement (the one month full pay plus two months half pay) will be calculated on the basis of your contracted hours of work and basic hourly rate, it doesn't take into account any unsocial hours enhancements etc. in the calculation.
