Well if you just want a simple site, there are sites like Shopify that let you build that yourself with a few clicks.I’m starting to get together homemade Caribbean influenced seasoning mixes. I would like help on how to sell them online successfully.
Thanks for the advice. I’m in the process of getting registered at the local authority and looking at getting market sales. There is a big market for seasonings but you need to be good at marketing to find the openings. The actual seasoning is far less important than being able to sell.
Sorry for being a bit nebulous but right now any answers would depends on you and your marketing skills.
Have you don’t any market testing? Have you set up a stall at the local farmers market to see if they will sell?
Have you got the necessary certificates from the food standards agency? Have you had your kitchen inspected? Have you got enough product made to be able to sell?
It’s a good place to begin. Another suggestion would be to ask local butchers and independent stores to display the products. Our butcher always has a box of seasonings from a Jamaican takeaway on the counter. Thanks for the advice. It is a new business. Am planning to sell on eBay, Etsy and Amazon as well as local businesses. Thanks for your advice, much appreciatedA lot depends on the capital you have available, and the scale of the business.
Put a marketing hat on and think of what your market segments are, which are most likely to buy, and put yourself in their position. Test things with people like that, look at what they like, their aesthetic sensibilities, the general direction that segment is going in and so on.
Branding matters a lot in this space - but it's very segment sensitive. Middle class white people who want to reproduce dishes they experienced on holiday to the Caribbean will have very different tastes to people with Caribbean ancestry and the messaging, style and mixes probably need to be different.
I'm assuming your business is brand new. If you're more established you have this down already and it's just about using online sales appropriately.
Don't dismiss the online marketplaces like Amazon as a way of selling to people online - lots of people there looking for lots of things, and they have good SEO. And Amazon can handle all your logistics.
