hello all,
are there any existing retailers out there who can let me know how their online sales have been recently? (not actual figures of course, but say, opposed to last year etc.)
september was very strange for us, and october seems to be heading the same way.. no mention of it on this site, which seems a little strange being an ecommerce forum?? thanks

i wanted to see what any others say, without muddying the waters by giving mine 1st., and also saying why my sales may be suffering, most on these forums dont seem to have a huge amount of ideas about running a business (no problem with that as long as they dont try to" teach their grandmother to suck eggs") ..i dont want to get advice on what i may be doing wrong, or theories about why sales are suffering etc., just want to know if others are following any trends...but as people are reluctant to do this(doesnt make any sense to me, as i havent got a clue who they may be, and dont really care either,) then, ours are as follows, for the last 2 years we have been consistently beating previous years weekly/monthly sales , sales up around 30% per year..it was going the same way this year until sept, then down 7% on last year..and this month loks like it is going to be a lot lot worse....quite simple really, i just wanted to see if other retailers are having unusual trends in their sales!!
thanks

Hi, We had a really great August - the best months trading since we launched in 2010. September started off dreadfully - the first week we had our lowest weekly turnover for about 10 months. It gradually built up again though so that overall our monthly turnover was about the same as July. October is going very well so far....

We had two really bad weeks in September which is not usual for this time of year. They were the two weeks around back to school. Since then things have picked up again wonderfully and are back to normal ie. slight increase on this time last year.

consider installing cilcktale in your website and see what your visitors are doing ( it records them ) first month is money back gtee, and they have a free version but yea many I know including me hit a bad few weeks over the summer this is a trend with holidays, its sometimes easier said than done but very important to get reserves in place for bad times , and when they are becoming trends see if you can be offering a product or service that is rolling monthly as this will keep you afloat if things are tight. Do you have managed buying trends of your customers ? have you looked at these individually to ensure nothing is amiss.

September was a record month - 3% up on August. Not that big a surprise as we sell mainly to small bus and they tend to go on holiday in August. So far October is going the same way.

I should ask for your money back from that charm school.

May be part of the reson your sales are taking a dive.:|

    Hope that helps.
