Hi guys me and seo again

I posted earlier this week with a seo companies offer for my site I have decided there pricing and structure isn't for me and that help was down to you guys pointing out some good things so thank you for that.

Below is another email / opinion of what my site requires from another company
Should I be doing this as everyone does things differently I imagine.

But I no not that much about seo so I am hoping by doing this again we can weed out any vital errors

I have given him the budget so the price has being selected by me so hopefully that's not the issue its more the plan of action

Your thoughts would be great copy and pasted below.

Dear Tom

Enclosed is a Website Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Proposal. Please review the proposal.
We are committed to providing you with the highest level of customer satisfaction possible. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us any time.

Website Marketing Proposal for http://www.clearanceandcleanup.co.uk/
SEO Project Overview
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a service that is intended to bring relevant visitors to web sites from highly positioned listings in "indexing" search engines. Relevant visitors are defined as Internet users actively seeking out your service offerings, and are most likely, of all visitors, to convert into clients. These listings are generated when a user executes a keyword search in a search engine.
Every page of your website can be optimised for up to 3 key phrases. We first identify the 3 Key Phrases for each page on your website which are more likely to attract optimum numbers of customer. We then explain how to use these key phrases in the page Title & Description

Clearance And Cleanup
From our conversation I understand you are looking to increase your visibility for the following areas Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Leeds, Castleford and York. You are looking to be found for "house clearances + Location", and other related phrases.
Keyword Research
The first stage of SEO is keyword research. Here we look at keywords related to the services Clearance And Cleanup provide with a geographical suffix for instance "house clearance Leeds", "office clearance Sheffield".
Here are a list of keywords I have found:-

On Page Optimisation
Here I look at elements of the website including:
• Title tag (at the top of the browser)
• Body text
• Header tags
• Image descriptions
• Inner links
• Robots txt
• Sitemaps
Here I would look to adopt a local SEO landing page strategy. This is where we optimise the home page for the areas you have a physical location (i.e Sheffield) concentrating on making sure the page is optimised so it can effectively rank in the Google+ Local Pages (Google maps) for instance:-

As you can see this is a big part of the 1st page for "House Clearances Sheffield". I would set up your Google+ places for you as part of the strategy.

For the other areas we would set up separate landing pages tailored to that city. However to avoid duplicate content filters, I would use unique content for each city and mention something about the city for each page.

Fresh content is extremely important part of SEO as the freshness of the website adds to the weight of importance given to it by Google. As part of the proposal I would recommend content marketing services. This is where engaging authoritative content is posted on a bi-weekly basis on the site. This content is then pushed out to social media. This engaging content is then used as a way to attract visitors to the site via social media profiles such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. (Please see social media)
Social Media
Social Media is becoming a bigger play in the SEO field and here is where we can take advantage. Using fresh content and Social media engagement we can show Google we are an authoritative site. As an add-on service we would recommend the following:-
• Review & Refresh Existing Social Media Profiles
• Fresh Content- This can be written by members of the Close Thornton team or they may suggest subject matter we can create content on.
• Multiple updates, tweets and interactions each day to actively engage with fans and followers, including linked content, regular features, targeted likes, mentions and follows
• A dedicated account manager handling your profiles and blog site.
• Monthly social updates so you can see the real impact of your social activity.
Off Page Optimisation
This is called link building and the most important part of SEO. Basically the aim is to get your link on to as many sites as possible. A link on another site is considered a vote. The more votes you have the higher the rankings in the search engine.
I have compared link metrics with your competition as outlined below:-

As you can see we have a good metrics compared to our competitors. It would be my idea to provide engaging content that we would approach relevant blogs with in return for a link back to the site. A good solid link building plan will achieve this. We will only use ethical link building practices.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Timeline
This Search Engine Optimization Plan covers a 3 month period of time, cancellable on or after 30 days from project execution.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Fee Structure
The cost would be a monthly fee of £500 payable before any work commences. The first month would be used to cover optimisation of the site and keyword research for the home page and all area related pages. There would then be a monthly charge of £500 per month to cover link building, Fresh Content and Social Media work. The monthly link building package can be stopped or started as required. We make no guarantees on how long it will take us to effectively rank the site; however any SEO results should be reviewed every three months.
This plan covers initial periods of time. After such time, the performance of this plan will be evaluated and adjusted as necessary, with an extensible period set forth as desired by the client. The benefits derived from this Search Engine Marketing Plan will have a lasting impact that extends beyond the term of the agreement or the term of its renewal.
Optimize-Yorkshire is pleased to have the opportunity to submit this plan to Clearance And Clean Up as we are confident that the SEO/SEM processes set forth within this document provides a sound basis for our organizations to establish a mutually beneficial relationship.

imo this is going to be a waste of time for you. Once you sort the content on your site there is nothing else you can say... you don't need any further content and you have a boring product so there is no gains to be had with what they are suggesting. To me it looks like they are only suggesting it to give themselves some extra billable work...

They aren't even telling you what they're going to do for the £500. How many links does it get you? Or how many hours worth of link building? This looks like a suckers deal to me... I wouldn't sign it.

Hello Tom - I am in a similar position (and location) to you trying to employ someone to do SEO.

I don't have a problem with the budget you are setting.

What I would question any supplier is what am I going to get back for my money?

I don't care how much work you, or how many links you build.

What I want to know is how will my business be £500 a month better off for employing your business?

The job is really down to them to demonstrate how you will be made better off. If they can't then don't employ them.

They really need to persuade you that the £500 will be better spent on using them than it would be staying in your pocket.

Right, I will get off my soap box now:)

Is it not possible to keep the £500pm and do the SEO yourself.

SEO isnt very difficult, its just time consuming.

G clearly doesnt like the whole buying millions of backlinks anymore. The key to understanding what G wants is to do a search for the keyword(s) you want to rank for. Look at the top 5 sites, work out what they have which your site doesnt.

I'd bet my.... it'll be content.

I ranked my new site to #8 for a massively competetive search term. It took masses of effort in terms of content but it is still possible to get on page 1 without any trickery.

Most of those terms generate very little traffic.

You would have to be in the top 3 on google to get anything worthwhile.

Seems they may not have done their keyword research properly.

Doesn't sound like the worst deal in the world. But I agree with Suzuki on the content side of things. I did some one off work for a similar type of business and it's nigh on impossible to come up with engaging or informative content. Nobody is looking for "top 10 ways to clean up fly tipping" etc so what can you talk about? You can't create highly shareable stuff in this industry, anyone who says otherwise is deluded.

The only content you need to update your site with is new jobs you are working on with plenty of pictures, any accreditation's you get or new hires/vans etc to show that you're active.

Are you getting social media included in that fee? Not really clear as it says "As an add-on service we would recommend the following:"

Depending on how much work you do for homeowners etc I think you could probably get some value out of Twitter. If it's just contract work then not so much.

You still don't have a contact form on your site as I pointed out previously. What happens if someone is browsing outside of office hours?

It makes little difference here what volume the search phrases get. For a local business it's about being there for the relevant terms not the most searched.

Even if "house clearance sheffield" doesn't get high searches, it's still worth showing up for that because it's ultimately the most relevant keyword to the business. And the most likely to convert.

I wish more small businesses thought like you. This is why I gave up doing SEO for other people as they just don't get it. One job I charged £250 for the first month in which sales instantly increased by £2,500 and the client said he couldn't afford to pay for the next month.

Thank you il have a look might be because the site hasn't being indexed yes only being live 8 days
If this is the case then don't do any SEO yet.

Test the site and make sure you are getting conversions. Find out which bits bring in the money and which bits don't. Revise and adjust the content and navigation. Be ready to fiddle with colours and layout.

Once you know what makes you money then you will have a far better idea about the keywords you need to optimise for.

As an aside, there is loads you could do to the site before paying for SEO. Any advice however can only be given to full members...

PS: look at the site IE8 - the fonts are yuk.
