SEO Companies/Recommendations

I have been through the forum looking for advice on which SEO company to use and conversely which to avoid. As with all research there appears to be pro's and con's for all companies listed and there appear to be a number of forum members who are highly recommended.

Basically I have started approaching companies away from this forum and, like everyone else, would loathe to spend money on a company that does nothing for my business or worse, uses techniques that offer short term gain but long term failure.

Companies approached include Smart Traffic, Moovin On Up and a number of local companies. I have done the google search on 'seo company', 'seo experts' etc and approached those companies.

Could anyone out there offer advice on companies used previous, examples of keywords and google rankings etc.

I know it is asking a lot but any help is truly appreciated.

Let me tell you you need to work on you website.
this is way too Americanised for UK consumers.
You are assuming that people know what your product is and the video poorly explains why you should get one.

Redesign the landing page please before you optimise.

Make it look more sporty like www.underarmour dot com.

If you loathe to spend money on seo then spend it making your visitors convert.

your navigation is really poor

Be wary of "big" companies - even those who rank highly in google.

Remember, someone who spends all their time cracking tough nut "seo related" searches in google, is probably not spending that time working on client projects - why not? ;)

From a quick squiz, you really want someone who will help improve the onsite aspects SEO-wise, and give you some solid advice on online marketing/offsite optimisation.

You are also going to have to do extensive testing to establish how well your site converts (I suspect the answer right now is probably 'not very well at all'), and improve this to an acceptable threshold..!

Agree with both the above, it's not SEO you need at the moment it is some who can help you make your site more effective so that it converts well. In the few seconds I looked at your homepage I spotted a number of issues that if fixed would improve the chances of converting your visitors or at least generating some leads.

I would agree

Getting Seo at this stage will be money wasted, as said above spend some money on getting the site right, it will pay off to get a good seo copywrite done this will help loads initially

Once this has been accomplished ask friends or business collegues to reccomend a Seo, please don't do what i did, look at google and choose from what i thought was a good company, 6 months into my compaign and 1000's of crap worthless links later i realised they are not working on my interests but their pockets

A good seo should be busy and not wasting thier own time getting their sites top of Google, they should be too busy getting their clients their first as thats who pay them the money to live (well that's my experience anyhows)

I'd go one further and suggest you find someone who can market your site rather than concentrating on SEO. It may be that a good offline campaign will we more lucrative than improving your ranking.

thanks all!!

when you suggest getting someone to 'market my site', can you offer further info/examples? I do a lot of pushing of the site in my local area but nothing further afield than that at present. I do a little social networking and push people to the site via Twitter, Facebook etc but that hasn't resulted in any business so appreciate that the site itself needs some work although I am unsure where to start with this.

I have been looking at a new build of the site and integrating SEO as that is built, does anyone recommend that as a worthwhile exercise for me?

thanks again for all responses... some 'tough love' but it is needed!!

Marketing could mean running promos at the local sporting events, wrting articles for magazines, doing demos in the town centre, getting the local running team to wear your products with suitable logos, Running classes at the local tech. You could pay for banners on the sprots websites/forums. Run a PPC campaign. I'm sure one of the local marketing companies could come up with all sorts of ideas.

But you need an effective website to start with. Have you tried to find any of your products and actually make a purchase? It's pretty difficult if your don't know exactly what you are looking for.

Most definately.

currently your website is like a a spar shop trying to sell Harrods quality goods.
I like the look of your products but i honestly believe you could do 1000 times better with the design and layout of the website.

Once that is achieved you will get better conversions for the traffic you gain.
