SEO advice

I'm currently using a company in India who are working on my SEO. They have been working on 20 keywords since October 2008. The keywords are slightly competitive as i'm selling gifts. I'm getting slightly worried because its now been 6months and they havn't been able to get any of the keywords to a top 10 position yet.

Also in terms of traffic im still only receiving 15-20 visits a day but those are from keywords from the products im selling not the ones the seo company are working on.

Are there things I can do myself? or shall I consider an alternative seo company?

How competitive are these keywords? 6 months doesn't seem excessively long if you are selling really competitive products. It can take a while, can you give us anymore details or PM the website?:)

More importantly is the site converting or are buying visitors hard to find?

Thanks

Can you show me the website. I will have a look.
The gift industry is extremely competitive but not to get you into the top ten pages is a bit unbelievable.
Or do you mean page one.
in which case i would look at the terms. "gifts or gift" would take a long time.

pm me the deails if you want me to take a look.

if you want me to have a look, drop me a pm with the site and keywords, as without any further details is difficult to say if the company is being lazy or are just crap

The latter looks more like it, what the OP has not made clear is:
How much they paid for this seo service?
What the company was doing to achieve the serps?
What timeframe was agreed ie roughly within one to two months?
What and if any reports they are getting from this seo service?

Lots of other aspects, one being did they make any seo optimisation changes to the website prior to offsite seo?

You should change the SEO company because the maximum time taken by any organic seo specialist is not more than 3 months or maximum 4 months. But if even after 6 months you have nothing then why not taking back the money from them

Ravi,

I'd put money on it that all they are doing is link building. This means you are paying for links from a bunch of crap directories and spammy links pages.

If they haven't been working on the actual site then you have been chucking your money down the drain.
