Self-drive hire

The reality is that the OP directed his thoughts to a specific set of potential customers and I replied to it... simple as... if you think that's being racist then tough... not my issue, that's yours.

Beenthe owner of vehicle rental business for over 25 years:

DO NOT rent vehicles which are attractive to younger drivers they WILL get abused they WILL get wrecked. Your business depends on insurance and you could become uninsurable end of business loss of investment.

When I rented out cars (no longer do that stupid thing!) I would almost close down in the couple of days before Diwali when the Indian guys would be on the phone asking if we hired BMWs or any fast cars. The reason off they would go for drag racing around Hounslow!

PM me if you wish for more handy hints.

There are 2 laws of nature:

Bring a seemingly sensible person into contact with a rented internal combustion engine and you have the recipe for idiocy.

The fastest object in the universe is a rental car.

20% depreciation? Will anyone want to rent a 5 year old? You target audience will want new, fast cars.

£1500 maintenance across three performance cars? Dream on. The target audience that you mention will all drive these cars like utter bell ends. £1500 won’t even cover the servicing costs. Start looking at break pads, alloy refurbs and then onto clutches and gearboxes and the costs soon start racking up.

Also, your costing is massively flawed by working out the cost over 365 days to arrive at your hire price. The cars will not be rented for 365 days per year. Start with assuming that your cars will be rented out all weekend, every weekend if you are lucky.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there is no money in this. The only reason there are so many performance car hire businesses around is so that dealers can launder their money.
