...I thought I'd try here.

I'm trying to put icons linking to facebook, twitter & rss on my site.

I tried the text widget but that put them under the 'special offer box' and completely removed everything else in the column.

So I'd like to have them either above the special offer box or hovering on the left side of the page.

Oh and the image files I have are PNG. Is that the right format?

it's hard to give advice without seeing th code but essentially all you need to do is find the <div> where the special offer text is and put a <div> pictures </div>above it. But you may need to play with the style of the div so it doesnt effect the mainpages. Depends on how it's coded or create your own widget and change orders.

In the dashboard>Appearance>Theme options and turn off the RSS, Information, Twitter and search options.
Make/get a logo button for the things you want, wack it in a text widget with the appropriate <a href=> and Bob's your aunty.

(I'd consider changing the font colour to #ffffff from #b8babb and up the size to 14 for legibility.)

To have them floating on the left you could use this plugin - Get Social, or if you want to put them below or above the special offer box you could hard code them by going into the editor open up sidebar.php and then find -

And put your HTML for the icons above or below that and then style it in editor or use the same div class ("information-contents") to have the black rounded box around them.

Both of these are quick fixes without me having to actually look in your backend but either should work fine, if you have any problems let me know and I can take a look for you.
