Wayback machine pages won't appear in actual Google search results - the only value they have is being able to browse your old content via archive.org.
It used to be the case that Google would keep pages indexed for 12 months before removing them completely (if your site was always down during this time).
More recently I've seen cases of different things happening:If you specifically want to remove pages from Google you can use the URL removal tool in the sitemap control panel: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/
- Old pages staying indexed for a long time even if the site has been removed.
- Pages being removed within a week (I had a site hacked while I was on holiday and came back to find all the pages deindexed by Google).

The google URL removal tool normally works within 10 days.
Hi all,
What happens if you take down a website and it is listed with a lot of search engines and Google? How long will the content that was listed with the search engines appear in google searches?
Many thanks,
D
