Not sure the titles correct but looking for suggestions for software that will allow us to produce basic instructional videos.

Basically, filming the screen as the cursor moves to various sections. Voiceover tells the viewer to click here to do this, click here to do that etc., Used a lot for graphics software instruction.

I've tried Videoscribe but the whiteboard route doesn't cut it. I'm aware of software to produce a very raw warts and all screenshot video, but something more attractive is required.

Recommendations please?

Yup, another one for OBS.

Of course, Windows has its 'X-Box' features like screen recording!

Never tried it, though.

If you are using windows, you can simply hit the 'windows key' and the letter 'g'. the capture option is on the top left. It also records input.

That's unbelievable, all the years I've had a PC and never knew about that.
(Probably like loads of other things too.)

I've just created my very 1st screenshot video -

No sound or anything and very jerky, but I'm going to have fun using that :)

    Thanks all...
I've had a quick look at some of the recommendations which look to be more complex than I'd hoped for but will look a little closer.

I have since come across Loom, which from a simple control panel allows full or custom area screen capture, with or without webcam - so you appear full screen or in a bubble to one corner. One feature I like is that you can send a copy of the final video to individuals, password protected or a wider audience and get feedback as to how many opens it gets.
