Sales calls while driving?

No, other than calls to/from the office I try to avoid calls while driving.

I don't like talking to people while they are driving either. Usually because I can't hear them properly or I can hear myself on loudspeaker. I prefer a calmer call being made when parked up.

Although I appreciate that some people spend so much time on the road, it's a good use of their time, I really can't stand it.

Working for a large multinational... we have been banned from making or receiving any calls whilst driving.

At first, I was with colleagues in uproar - certain it would make the job almost impossible.... or extend our day terribly as we had to stop for 10-20 minutes to make each call.

After a year, I'm in total agreement - it seems to work. I now find it chilling to think of the lack of driver concentration - as you discuss complex issues, or deal with a customer who has a problem...

I now think of it as being somewhat unprofessional if someone rings me in my office from their car.

I might not yet be typical, but I bet this is an attitude that is growing.

I too avoid calls while driving. Aside from it being very unsafe (unless you're using some kind of hands free device), it is quite distracting when you're talking to someone over the phone while trying your best to concentrate on traffic.

Wrong at every level!

- It is unsafe - even with hands-free.

- You won't be able to concentrate properly on what is being discussed - or note it.

- You will be luck not to lose contact at some point.

- It feels shabby.

I think there will be a big move towards not phoning at all whilst on the move.

I never ever make sales calls whilst driving. Apart from it being unsafe (and more so with me because I am a rubbish driver) I think it gives the wrong message to someone in that they are not important enough for a proper phone call. I absolutely hate it when people want to me whilst they are driving to discuss prices or how we are going to work together as they are often distracted whilst talking.

I don't mind making the occasional call to suppliers or staff or other things but defo not sales calls.

I never make calls when driving, even though the car is equipped with blue teeth :)rolleyes:). I may answer calls, but if it is anything other than a very quick call I say 'can't talk, I'm driving, call you back' and hang up. I find it far too distracting to be on the phone at all, as it diverts too much attention away from the road.

A hands free device does not make it safer, concentration is what is lost and I suspect what causes the majority of accidents.

Its a joke that its legal to use a mobile whilst in control of any vehicle.
