There seem's to be a few negative comments floating about regarding Sage Pay. Should i avoid them for this reason, or are the negative comments due to the size of the company?

The major issue merchants have had with Sagepay in the last year is in relation to system downtime. They have a had a couple of high profile incidents. I wouldn't say that was down to 'the size of the company'.

That's what i feared... i notice you do payment processing yourselves (convenient ;) ) are there any demos of what your payment page looks like or how it can be customised? I want to be able to customise and change how the payment page looks if possible. Iframe maybe?

Also, i want to be able to do refunds easily from my website? :)

You should look at full transparent integration of payments into your site, some providers offer this (PaymentSense do) - end user perception is much better than a payment page on another site - embedding payment pages in iFrames is a big no-go area - people like to see the security. HTH. Ben.

Do you have any facts and figures to support these assertions?

Surely they wouldn't even realize it was an iFrame? Why would they?

Feel free to send me some figures on payment processing through payment sense if you like, and any demos of how your payment pages look, or how they can be customised?

On sagepays iframe model it's fully integrated the customer never leaves the site and wouldn't know the difference

You have to wonder how many times can a FTSE100 company can completely mess up system "upgrades" before the shareholders loose patience with their incompetence and demand changes :|

No system is perfect and SagePay is not as good as some systems, but better than others. It is affordable and for most of the time it works well with a great default user interface for your customers, but as a merchant if you get that "We will be making exciting changes" email, plan for downtime and a loss of revenue

I think Sage Pay really dropped the ball last year when they did a major upgrade - we moved away from them as a result of this, however we decided to move back to Sage Pay a while ago as their customer interface, reporting and general reliability is by far the best I've come across.

I've been using SagePay for 2 years now and think they're brilliant. Barring the upgrade hiccup last year, the processes are very smooth and support it fantastic. Othe payment providers are always approaching me for business, but I very much doubt they can offer the level of reliability and service SagePay do.

It is not, you cheeky sod! I'm just new to this forum, and hit 'next thread' at the bottom of the Sagepay thread instead of next page, so I was commenting on the ebay shop thread instead of Sagepay like I thought. If you can tell me how to delete a post, that'd be great, because yakking on about sagepay in an ebay thread makes me look like an idiot.

Listen to customer feedback not people touting their wares IMHO...impossible for them to remain unbias. I am a partner of SP hence no recommendation due to conflict of interest

Loads of people passing comment, Google is your friend ;)

If you had bothered to read the other post you'll see he quickly amended to say he'd posted in the wrong thread. However, I did find it a bit strange mentioning Sagepays reliability was impressive. I think every payment gateway on the market would have beaten them for reliability last year.

Really? I've only tried SagePay and HSBC. In that context, SagePay's reliability is extraordinary but then a tin can and a piece of string is more reliable than HSBC.

Unless i'm missing something, how can i listen to customer feedback if i'm not using the system? Do i try all systems and listen to customer feedback and waste my time, or just ask on a forum ;)

And the reason i asked is due to views i found on Google. Google is my friend, but apparently not so much Sage Pay's :)

So true! People are quick to complain, especially when a payment gateway is down. But will never post to say that it is up and stays up. Look at the frequency of complaints and when the last one occurred.

I use sage pay, and have no plans currently to move off it. It does seem to have an interface with virtually every cart out there. So using it does not restrict choice of cart.

We have used Sagepay for 3 years and apart from that devastating outage at Xmas 2010 we have been more than happy with them, something I can't say for Worldpay who bought our streamline and immediately started putting rates up despite assuranced to the contrary

Whoa there cowboy, trying to help not hinder dude.

My point being (which you obviously missed ;) or I didney pop it in clear enough so here goes...) ASK FOR CUSTOMER FEEDBACK, FORUM ET AL, GOOGLE ET AL IS A STARTING POINT AND TAKE NOT A JOT OF NOTICE FROM PEOPLE SELLING OTHER SERVICES...

It is simple if you take the time to absorb what I said.

I think i understand what your trying to say, but i'm having trouble seeing how it would work...

How would i get customer feedback on a payment processing option? If a customer has a good/bad experience when they pay on a website, do they really take note of who's processing the payment?

    Is this what you mean?

Should i mail shot them with a questionnaire and a stamped self-addressed envelope? ;)

...and I didn't mean to come across as ungrateful of your reply, if it came across that way at all. :)

    Ahhhhhhhh I C.....crossed wires dude.

CUSTOMER = PERSON/BUSINESS WHO SUBSCRIBES TO THE PSP (ie You)

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK = THESE PEEPS SAYING SAGEPAY ROCKS, WORLDPAY ROCKS PAYPAL ETC....

Not customers of the stores buying the products etc...

So after all that, what your suggesting is i ask other people who use the service, what they think...

That's why i stated this thread. I give up.

    Are you being deliberately obtuse.

My point is to ASK THE PEOPLE WHO USE THEM YES BUT NOT TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO SELL THE SERVICE...

IT IS I THAT TRULY DOES GIVE UP!!!!

Despite your relentless use of capitals i understand what you're saying completely... Don't listen to competitors of a business, because by definition... they compete. :) Solid advice and now we can let the matter lie.

the key is don't put all your eggs in one basket, no provider is perfect, Sagepay have good points, there intergration packs and documentation is good, the number of extra facilities they provide, like repeat authentication is bigger than most.

They had a few clitches, but haven't had any problem since, and there support is excellent.

However the ideal situation is have 1 provider, as the main and have another as a backup, if the process fales the system should try the backup, and the customer wouldn't know.
