Hi all, I am looking to explore the possibilities of sage 50, where would be best to start a thread on the BOM module of line 50? I am more used to working with line 200 and I'm missing a fair few feature's that I'm used to, but the company's system I've inherited last year was hardly none existent! I'm a stock controller and want to develop the system in place to be able to more accurately quote for lofts we are selling. I have in the last year set up a product list which due to the bespoke nature of our manufacture is ever growing, but has a core set of items needed for build. I want to be able to build a BOM for each loft, but using generic items, ive isolated these so far to truss, (quantity of) floorspace sqmtr), internal walls (linear metre), insulation (sqmtr) boarding (sqmtr), and so on. My problem is that there is not a fixed specific of building wall plate, or indeed shape of roof, (ie width height, or length). This makes it hard for a BOM, as it almost breaks down to individual components. I'm needing a little advice on how to dissect a finished product into its separate BOMs and thus into components, and be able to generate a costing, at the moment everything is set up as a single unit, with the price for components (bought as x1) set at three decimal place, (dealing with timber products whi h are priced per meter this was soon found to be essential, and something I changed in the options early on).

I have worked on line 200 system that had specific BOMs for each sub assembly, containing thousands of components within the final product. I feel the answer is staring me in the face, but I still can't get my head around how I can achieve it.

Any advice would be appreciated

Regards

Jon
